Personally I see no problem with this form of punishment.

Children are the future and if this type of punishment serves to deter one other person from committing such a crime then that is to the good.

Perhaps if some draconian form of physical punishment were to be passed on those that sexually assault young children here in the USA, the incidence of such assaults might be reduced.
