I'm not saying she way.....but the conservative candidate backed by many in the GOP lost in a district that even a moderate democrat couldn't come closer than 35 points for the last decade.
Not exactly an embracing of the new "conservative" GOP movement now is it?

A Moderate Republican would have easily won this seat probably by 20-50 points.

The GOP candidate wasn't in the race at all. Getting past the 2 party system is a huge feat. I am curious how many people didn't vote because no republican was on the ticket. and it was still a narrow margin. A majority vote Republican or Conservative....
    From the ashes.

Keep telling yourself that. The fact is....this was as safe a republican district as there is....carried by the Republican by a minimum 30 points in the last two decades. The closest race for 65% to 35%.
The fact that they not only rejected the conservative agenda, but rejected it in such a large way to allow a democrat to not only be in the race...but to win, is a huge defeat to the conservative movement.

Then you believe that the message is also that a liberal incumbent governor can't win on a liberal agenda even in a liberal state like New Jersey???

Yes. I believe that there is some truth to that as well.

New Jersey Republicans won 'fair and square' yes, but It was a shock to many people that the Democrat won that New York district. The conservatives have held that seat for a very long time.

New Jersey has changed the party of its governor every election for about 30 years. Corzine was disliked and got the blame for the bad economy in NJ, plus he may have been corrupt. It's a different story in NY23, which has been represented by a Republican since the Civil War. The voters were aware they were being manipulated by Dick Armey and Glenn Beck, and they refused to go along with it.

so the fact that two republicans were on the ballot and Owens is a fiscal pro farming democrat had nothing to do with it?

    It was armey and beck?

Not true. Democrats have been in the governors seat since 2002. So you are claiming that Obama endorsed and campaigned for a corrupt governor?? What does that say about him?

Voters in New Jersey were obviously aware that they were being manipulated by Obama and refused to go along with it.
