Only a corrupt and insane society would release a mass murdering terrorist on compassionate grounds. **** like this just makes compassion associated and or synonymous with idiocy and corruption and why the death penalty is a great idea(can't get released due to compassion if you are already dead)..
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

In case you missed it, from the beginning most Scots were pissed off at the decision by one politician to release Abdelbaset al Megrahi from prison.

Ahem! It was one politician who made the decision to release Megrahi, not the entire Scottish society.

As long as he's not involved in criminal activity then I don't see the big deal.

Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false, and does not swear deceitfully. Psalm 24

Some people are convinced he was not involved... like most of the people in the country he is from.

Also, he was released as part of some oil deal.

Are you saying that society should not punish any criminal regardless of the crime? I think society failing to adequately punish those who do wrong results in people taking the law into their own hands.

This man is most likely innocent any ways. The evidence against him was at best tainted and at worst fabricated. Instead of focusing all your hatred on this man, then maybe people should focus on the fact that the people behind the bombing are most likely still at large.

Just as an example of the issues with the evidence.. the head witness against Al Megrahi, a store owner from Malta changed his testimony several times and ultimately got millions from the FBI and safe passage to Australia.

There is almost no doubt there was a huge miscarriage of justice in this case.

MI-6 needs to put the crosshairs on him.
