1. Scozzafava suspends.

2. The future of the GOP is NOT rhino.

3. Opposition to extremism is NEVER moderate.

4. A Reagan will arise.

5. As certain as physics is politics, vacuums must be filled.

6. Virginia goes RED by double digits.

7. Gov, Lt Gov and AG---only the second time in the records of the Commonwealth.

8. Health care is dead, dogs must stray.

9. McDonnell has been campaigning, most unnaturally, on NATIONAL issues---cap and trade, health care, spending, deficits, stimuli, bailouts, card check.

10. And LOOK where it's gotten him.

11. Corzine may hold on by his whispy hair in Trenton, tho all media winds gust against the Goldman Sachs CEO.

12. Gibbs yesterday gibed, the gubs "don't portend much."

13. Obama sure has been galloping an awful lot of ground in the Garden State for a prez who perceives no portent.

14. Still, all know---were there no third party Daggett, the incumbent in New Jersey, as dark blue a state as any in the nation, would also trip by ten.

15. It is what it is.

16. It portends what it portends.

Dede Scozzafava, the Republican and Independence parties candidate, announced Saturday that she is suspending her campaign for the 23rd Congressional District and releasing all her supporters.

The state Assemblywoman has not thrown her support to either Doug Hoffman, the Conservative Party candidate, or Bill Owens, the Democratic candidate.

"Today, I again seek to act for the good of our community," Ms. Scozzafava wrote in a letter to friends and supporters. "It is increasingly clear that pressure is mounting on many of my supporters to shift their support. Consequently, I hereby release those individuals who have endorsed and supported my campaign to transfer their support as they see fit to do so. I am and have always been a proud Republican. It is my hope that with my actions today, my party will emerge stronger and our district and our nation can take an important step towards restoring the enduring strength and economic prosperity that has defined us for generations."

Ms. Scozzafava told the Watertown Daily Times that Siena Research Institute poll numbers show her too far behind to catch up - and she lacks enough money to spend on advertising in the last three days to make a difference. Mr. Owens has support from 36 percent of likely voters in the poll, with Mr. Hoffman garnering 35 percent support. Ms. Scozzafava has support from 20 percent of those polled.

Well, that %20 of people to Hoffman, he wins.

What this does is send the message to all Republicans that the party is for the most part out of touch with the people, and that Conservative values mean more than the title Republican Candidate.
I can't tell you how many times I have heard from Talk show people like Roger Hedgecock that Hoffman was going to split the vote and give the victory to the Dim (no spell error). This shows that values are more important and Scozzafava saw that as well since she was not really even close to being any kind of Republican, much like Arnold Schwarzenegger.
This is really good news to the 40% of voters who call themselves Conservatives and shows the way for others to follow and adopt more of the core values and back bone Ronald Reagan showed us works.
It show also send a message to the Liberals, Socialist/Communists, and other lefties in the Congress and the Obama Administration that their time is short.
But that will be true only if those who believe in the Constitution stand up and be counted and do what is needed to keep the Conservative message of God, Country and the Values this Nation was built on going strong.
This is indeed great news.

thanks for the feeback, friends, and, of course, i agree

some more dirt from the trail

last week, daggett returned a loaner car (his was being worked on) with, unbeknownst to the candidate, a loaded gun under the seat

his "driver," a retired cop, left it there

for all i know, a loaded gun in a vehicle might enhance a candidate's chances in new jersey

but last nite, a staffer for corzine was caught with drugs for sale within 100 feet of a hi school

ecstasy tablets, wrapped as if for distribution

the corziners claim they never heard of the creep

but he had campaign paraphernalia in his pinto

and more problematic paraphernalia, as well, apparently

'Corzine staffer' Busted with Drugs
By ANGELA MONTEFINISE

Last Updated: 12:53 PM, October 31, 2009

A man who identified himself as an official with New Jersey Gov. Jon Corzine's re-election campaign was arrested last night after cops found found ecstasy tablets wrapped and ready to be sold in his car, police said.

Jason Shih, 25, was pulled over by East Rutherford cops at about 11:30 p.m. last night because he was talking on his cell phone on Route 17, said Lt. Chris Conforti of the East Rutherford police.

Officers wound up finding 19 "blue star" ecstasy tablets in Shih's car, each wrapped in its own little plastic bag.

Shih -- who was stopped within 100 feet of Becton Regional High School -- also had had "several hundred" empty plastic bags in his car, Conforti said.

Shih told police he worked for Corzine's campaign, and had several campaign-related items in his car, police said.

Corzine spokeswoman Elisabeth Smith said Shih is not on the payroll of the campaign or the New Jersey Democratic State Committee, and that the campaign doesn't know who he is.

Shih was charged with possession of drugs, possession of drugs in a school zone, intent to distribute drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also charged with two motor vehicle violations -- driving while using a cell phone and having drugs in his car.

Conforti said the criminal charges all carry jail time and heavy fines.

Shih, of Paramus, NJ, was released on $15,000 bail, Conforti said.

Corzine, a Democratic incumbent, is locked in a tight battle with Republican challenger Christopher Christie in the race for New Jersey governor that will be decided Tuesday.

I think what it means is the extremes are taking over the GOP. Hoffman doesn't live in the district, and when interviewed by the editorial board of the local paper, showed up with Dick Armey (instead of alone), couldn't answer questions about local issues, and allowed Dick Armey to say local issues are parochial issues.

Hoffman isn't representing the people of that district, he isn't in touch with them at all, and actually doesn't even care about their local issues.

Do the district's people even care about the local issues? Because I have a feeling that this was all a knee-jerk reaction by the electorate to all national issues at stake, which speaks mor of the liberal democrats, than it does for conservatives.

Someone's reaction to something doesn't say anything about what they are reacting to, it says something about them.

ny23 doesn't seem to agree with my classiest friend

scozzafava certainly dissents, having received reliable word from district residents

they preferred the conservative

We need a viable 3rd and 4th party in US politics.

Why?

What we need is an electorate that votes for the right reasons, and cares.

We haven't had that for a very long time.

Although it sounded like Scozzafava was the better candidate, this looks like the most likely way to keep the seat.

For what it's worth, they've said that he's absolutely not related to the campaign. The only evidence that the guy had anything to do with the campaign is the fact that he had two tickets to the Obama fundraiser and that he worked for DNC get out the vote 3 years ago. I don't see how that reflects on Corzine at all, even if he did work for him.

thanks, what corzine's people say, however, is never gonna be real revealing

i'd be a teeny interested in verification of exactly what the pusher had in the way of campaign props

for instance, if that's what the corziners are claiming...

but only scantly curious, like i say, as of now

cuz there's the truth and then there's politics, and the two often have little to do with each other

that is, right now, the story where i'm at is "a staffer got busted"

of course, i'm about as far from NJ as one can get, i can't presume to know much

i'd be quite interested if/when THAT headline changes

how much are people out there even talking about this in the first place?

of course, I'M trumpeting it (more like a kazoo), but we all know my mean little agenda

fill me in, what's the skinny in joysey?

is this story of the "staffer" pushing E near a hi school even a blip?

Good, lets keep that southern (20 percent claim to be Republican) strategy working like a finely tuned engine. ;)

Washington Post News (washingtonpost.com)

Absolutely. The national GOP should adopt this same strategy. Cast off the moderates and independents. Focus on the teabaggers and ultra-right wing.
I think this is a marvelous idea.
Palin 2012!

republicans are running against obama-ism

it's working bigtime

even if corzine wins by a point, it's a 20-ish point flip since inauguration day

the washington post by all accounts has been shilling pretty hard for deeds for weeks

the post featured a 7 day series on mcdonnell's 20 year old college thesis in which the paleocon made knuckle dragging comments about women in the workplace, for instance

today, the post blares a banner---Independents Flocking to McDonnell

Independents flocking to Republican in race for Va. governor - washingtonpost.com

61%, says the post

deeds has given up on centrists, continues woodward's rag

25% of those who voted for kaine (sitting dnc chair, keep in mind) now back the R

the subline in the post, however---Centrist Message Helps GOP Candidate---couldn't be farther off the mark

i saw mcdonnell myself interviewed by sean just last thursday

the candidate's campaign is hardly centrist

i was surprised not at how far right is this particular R---he wrote those theses, after all

but i was quite interested in how conservatively mcdonnell is campaigning

and how focused he is on NATIONAL issues

cap and trade, health care, bailouts, the stimulus, taxes, spending, deficits, card check

commuter issues in N VA are also a major problem, admittedly

mcdonnell actually ran an ad accusing deeds of "dithering" on taxes

no, the gop is running AGAINST OBAMA

and the entire non-partisan nation is buying in

obama won the commonwealth by 7

the old dominion, like the garden state, has moved 20 points my way since inauguration day

deal with it

Scozzafava Endorses Democrat After Dropping Out of N.Y. Congressional Race

Scozzafava Endorses Democrat After Dropping Out of N.Y. Congressional Race - FOXNews.com

Republican Dede Scozzafava endorses Democrat Bill Owens in the race for New York's 23rd Congressional District, one day after dropping out of the race.

Republican Dede Scozzafava endorsed her former Democratic opponent Sunday in the race for an upstate New York congressional seat, one day after Scozzafava dropped out of the contest.

Scozzafava dropped out after Conservative Party candidate Dough Hoffman experienced a late-in-the-game surge. But on Sunday, Scozzafava backed Democrat Bill Owens -- the announcement was made in a statement send out by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

"I am supporting Bill Owens for Congress and urge you to do the same," she said. "In Bill Owens, I see a sense of duty and integrity that will guide him beyond political partisanship. He will be an independent voice devoted to doing what is right for New York. Bill understands this district and its people, and when he represents us in Congress he will put our interests first."

Hoffman and Owens are competing for the 23rd Congressional District seat formerly held by Republican John McHugh, who was lured away by the Obama administration to be Army secretary.

This should settle any questions remaining as to whether Scozzafava was ever a Republican.
I would think that this move will in fact insure a Democrat loss just beacuse it should upset no end people who were going to vote for Scozzafava just because Republican was attached to her candidacy.

Can't wait to see what happens next come Tuesday.

She was actually to the right of average of her co-elected-partisans in New York. She's solidly a New York Republican. More conservative than the average New York Republican.

Interesting on the endorsement, though!

Re: Scozzafava Endorses Democrat After Dropping Out of N.Y. Congressional Race

I don't believe the the title Conservative applys to anyone who is pro Abortion or pro amnesty. And yes i know Reagan brought us the Amnesty debacle of 1986, but we learned (or should have) that it was and is a major mistake. She might be slightly more right than Dims (no spell error) but as a Conservative she misses the mark.

Conservative candidate in a Conservative district will win. Another Bushnevik supporter bites the dust. Now the district will truly be represented by a Conservative. The Democratic opponent is toast.

If you were a conservative, you'd be jumping with glee. :2wave:

You're kidding right? She was endorsed by Markos Moulatasis (sp?) of DailyKOS fame, and by the Working Families party, as well as ACORN. Yeah, that kind of 'right' we don't need.....I am doin' a happy dance!
