Modern Warfare 2 Opens with Terror

But, it's ok for that poster to say,

?

Uh-huh!!

Did I say it was ok for him to say that? No. It was wrong of him to insult you as well. Please don't assume things. But you failed to address my point.

Sounds to me like you're only seeing things from one side.

BTW, they've also already made a game where you get to kill cats with a lawnmower ("The Lawnmower Massacre"). If you're going to find a game to bitch about, then please pick one which isn't about hunting down terrorists if you want to be taken seriously. Might want to go tell some "youngun's" to pull their pants up while you're at it gramps. ;)

Of course you would say that.

Why? It's not like I am likely to play the game no matter whether the scene is in or out. You just are looking at one scene in isolation and getting bent out of shape by it, which is not a problem with me or the other posters here.

If you entered the discussion in a civil manner, you wouldn't have received such treatment from me. Earn respect, don't expect it.

You gonna actually answer his point? He's asked the same question like three times in a row and you just deflect the post and change the subject. Wouldn't you say that's kinda a liberal thing to do? ;)

If you don't like it, don't buy it. If you like it, rent it or buy it, or borrow it from a friend. Gamers have short attention spans anyway. Sometimes a game is considered "old" if it has been out for 3 months and they move on to something else anyway.

Meh, not a controversy for me. I've been running over innocent civilians and clubbing them with a baseball bat in the various GTA games for a while already, slaughtered entire villages in a few rpgs and so forth. The setting of MW2 does make it a little bit different, but nothing that really shocks me.

Not going to buy the game though myself. The true travesty is the lack of decicated server support on PC. No dedis == no buy for me at the moment. I'll wait and see. I already know what happened to Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Risings' multiplayer thanks to the lack of dedicated servers.

Wow - a story from the other point of view. CRAAAAZY.

First, we don't even know what the scene actually is or what it involves or is supposed to represent. In other words, we don't really know anything about it besides the fact that it exists. So at this point it's completely pointless to attempt to pass judgment on it.

Second, who cares? In GTA4 you could f*ck hookers and then murder them to get your money back. You could club old ladies in the head until they had blood spurting out, and when they died you'd keep hitting them to see how big of a mess you could make. Then you could take their money and buy molotovs to throw at hordes of unsuspecting civilians. If that's not terrorism then I don't know what is.

My only disagreement is that they had to go with the played-out choice of making them Russian. So typical.

I'm not going to kiss your ass. I understand that most folks's idea of, "civil discoure", is one someone else agrees with everything they say, but you're out of luck if you want that from me.

I prefer common ****ing sense, but that's just me.

My point, in my first post on this thread, was in response to the lack of outrage at the game, because it's just a game. I was curious to see if those same people would cool with a game where you get to kill household pets, or some other act that is a helluva lot less PC. Would you be ok with a game where you bury house cats up to their necks, then run them over a with a lawnmower? Would you still be as blazais about it?

Hell, it's just a game.

Would I prevent a game like that from coming out or bitch about it? No, I don't care what they come out with. I doubt I'd buy it unless it somehow was the best kitty massacre game of all time; but barring that I'd probably take a pass on it. But I'm not going to get up in arms over a video game, it's just a video game. People aren't forced to play it, so if one doesn't like it they can simply not buy it.

*hugs my ps3. Can't wait for screams to happen all around me thanks to my surround sound. Everyone that has a ps3 should start a Debate Politics clan o_O.

Dedicated servers would be nice even for ps3 and xbox for the sake of player made mods, although. I hate it when companies make a match finding thingy of their own. It almost never ends up well. I hope they put full effort into it. I hear they are making it user choice free where it just auto puts you into the best games without your input. I sure hope not because, FatPrincess is that way and I almost never play it now, without a choice of games to join.

I remember the first time I beat up on a whore in gta4. Big fat one. I ended up on the ground thanks to her hidden knife. Damn knife whores. I did like the Russian backdrop though. Made great story.

I was talking about the bad guys in MW2 being Russian. The bad guys are always Russian. It's stupid.

That's fine, just don't cry about it when it's being thrown back at you. If this is how you want to do things, it's fine by me.

Furthermore, you've stopped discussing the topic pages ago. There was never "civil disclosure" coming from you to begin with, so I don't know why I would have expected it from you anyway.

Why don't you just answer a the simple question I posed for you right in the beginning: Why do you expect video games to be PC?

The Russians are notoriously evil though. Comes with communism. heheh

But Nazi's and zombies (and the dreaded Nazi zombie) also get a bad rap in the video game biz, is that wrong too? One of the first really popular FPS was Wolfenstein 3D, and pitted you against the Nazi army (this game was temporarily banned in Germany). In the end, a lot of shooters which revolve around war and draw from the real world for plots will take Russians, as we fought against them for so long. The Japanese, the Nazis are also amongst the groups which provide commonly fought foes. Now terrorists are getting into the mix too.

I don't think there's anything wrong with using Russian terrorists or whatever they have planned. It's not "stupid" just because they use Russians as the bad guys. I've played a lot of games where zombies are the enemy, and I don't think it's stupid because zombies are involved. For the most part, there's a lot of plot, engine, graphics considerations as well. If the game is fun, it's fun. That's the point of a game.

Well, they'd already done Italians and blacks. The only real significant crime groups aside from the Russians that they could have picked were Mexicans.

On topic: I'm really more excited for Dragon Age: Origins. I'm not a real big fan of the FPS genre.

I see. Well maybe Russians should quit being so tough and mean.

I am sure you can find flash based games online that allow players to molest children. Do I care? No.

Well, it seems AP has had ample time to try and address these questions. She has refused to try and debate me or anyone else for that matter it seems. She has not even attempted to answer the question I have posed, so in having respect of other board members, I don't want to sound like a broken record and ask again. If you care to debate this topic ap, go back and read what others have asked you. Peace.

I have a PS3 as well, but not a fan of playing FPS on a console. They just feel clumsy to me in general. Killzone 2 is the only FPS on a console that I've played for a while. And another thing that I've heard some complaints on the PC side about the scheme that IW is doing is that it gives the guy who hosts the game a nice little advantage compared to everyone else. A ping of 0 ms, since one of the players is the person who hosts the game. Well like I said before, I'll wait and see.

Got a ton of games coming up that I need to play, so probably not really going to miss MW2. I still play COD4 and now I have Borderlands, Dragon Age: Origins (ordered the CE) and Champions Online to play and Left 4 Dead 2 is coming soon as well. And for PS3 I have Agarest: Generations of War, Batman: Arkham Asalym and Valkyria Chronicles to play. And probably going to get Tekken 6 in a while so my significant other and I can beat each other up.
