Report: Amtrak loss comes to $32 per passenger

It's not a point of view, it's historical fact, that the interstate system was built to create a network of large volume highways that would allow the US military to deploy to different parts of the country, more rapidly, in the event of an invasion. So, scrapping the interstate system might be a tad bit of a bad idea.

Rail would be better in achieving that considering the size of the USA. Ill link later when I get home.

yes, please link that, because history tells a different story.

Oh, I understand your point. You want to use government controlled industries to push your political agenda.

No, you don't understand my POV whatsoever, as made apparent by your post here. Have a good rest of the day...

Well, apdst has it right that the major Interstates were built for military deployment, but the Intrastate system, including the Interstate highways were also put in place for commerce. That's right the trucks! They are my highways, we just let you drive on them..... Rail may be trying to make a comeback in the commercials you see about transporting goods, but they are only as good as the lines they travel. How you going to get those goods to market? That's right, a truck!

How about that trick math they use to snow people into thinking that they can move 1 ton of freight, 400 miles, on 1 gallon of fuel?...lol
