Here are the Neilson ratings just released from the time Anita Dunn attacked Fox News on 9/28/2009, until 10/11/09. Fox News went up 9% overall, and a whopping 14% in the all important 25 - 54 year old demographic.

If the White House keeps this strategy up, CNN and MSNBC will end up being turned into home shopping networks before too long.

Fox News Ratings Soar After Snub From Obama

Excerpt:

As for competition against the cable also rans, Fox News is sweeping the top 11 cable news slots in the 25-54-year old demographic (chart below), and the top 13 slots in all demos. It's kind of ridiculous. Word is that Shep Smith's program had its best month for the entire year. It must be depressing for folks like Olbermann and Chris Matthews, on MSNBC, how few people watch them.

Who needs charts? This is exactly what everyone, including many of Obama's compatriots, warned him would occur. Again, too bad Nixon ain't around for us to ask how his battle with the NYT went.:doh

Obama is clever.

Obama is clever.
I know, I know, it was his plan all along to increase the influence and ratings of Fox News while diminishing his own. Downright brilliant! The mark of a MASTER strategist.

Fox was his biggest detractor on health care. Now all they're talking about is his war on Fox.

Three words: hook, line, and sinker.

I think it's funny in light of the claims that the Genius in Chief Obama is just that a Genius. He was warned and ince again he knew better as did his version of brown shirted henchmen he sent out to mount attacks that backfired.
Or did they actually backfire, or have they had the desired effect by taking the focus off of other issues they are still trying to force down our throats. It could very well be that they are so devious that they are willing to help Fox if it gives them the ultimate victory they seek. After all my guess is their long term plans as are the same as all leftists in history to eventually have complete control of all media as a way to help gain public support through unchecked or restricted propaganda. A small set back now is nothing when you look at the big picture and long term goals. Remember what Anita Dunn said just the other day about how they manipulated the willing media to get there way without using the normal methods of going through reporters interviews.
Machiavellian? You bet, but if I can think it up, what would make anyone believe a group of dedicated proven duplicitous radical revolutionaries couldn't do the same. It's like taking a punch in order to set up the opponent for the knock out blow.

Actually "they" are still covering the exact same news as the rest of the 24/7 news channels, hardly speaking ONLY about their RATINGS BONANZA. You know, the result of the administrations hamfisted efforts? All while doing the same job as the other networks, which have actually felt it necessary to defend Fox. Not much acquainted with the reality or this situation are you? That IS by choice, no?

Meanwhile, when I see a wild arsed claim such as "Fox was his biggest detractor" on health care, I think only two words, PROVE IT. Mostly because I know who the biggest "detractors" of Obama health care plans are. But why not go ahead and share with us the bounty of your knowledge on this matter. Bring manna to us poor sheaves.

Health care is on the verge of passing public option and all...just today many Republicans have started voicing their discontent towards the likes of FoxNew's Glenn Beck and his creator Rush Limbaugh. Republicans are now complaining that these people are painting them into a corner and putting there chances at 2010 and 2012 in jeapordy.
The President made a wise choice. Not only in his temperment but in his timing of calling them out.
With nobody else to attack they will have no choice by to attack each other and blame each other for Health Care passing. Because in their eyes it will be a failure because they didn't win on the issue. Because blaming is their nature.

The more viewers that watch it the better.

Who is "many" republicans? Can you name one? I know I can name many democrats who say this tack of the Obama admin is a mistake. So tell us, WHO are these republicans you speak of that "came out" just today? Me thinks I smell a facetious claim.

So Fox News will now go down the drain as any sort of news organization and we can all expect Obama's approval ratings soar and everyone wanting single-payer health care now. right?

I'll have what you're smokin.

Gingrich, Pawlenty, Romney and Cantor to name a few.

Where? I've got Newt on the TV right now, oddly he is not speaking as you say. Surely you can supply a link to these comments you speak of, that Gingrich, Pawlenty, Romney and Cantor made about Beck, Limbaugh and Fox News "painting them into a corner" as you say. You see for some reason, I don't believe you.

Are you saying that you didn't read the linked article in the thread you posted in?

Not at all. That must mean you are claiming that the same article contains comments from ANY of the republicans you named above, which it does not. Not even one, meaning you are again caught whiffing or as South Park once lampooned, cheesing your own golden spring.

Now seriously, I am curious about the pathology behind a person like you. Did you think I nor anyone else HAD read the article linked in this thread? Or would not once you tried to claim it as some nebulous source for your BS claim? Do you in fact think this approach will lend you credibility and thus persuade people not suffering from advanced dementia to your POV? If so, do tell us all.............how?

And here again, since you clearly need all the help you can get, is the article you tried to pretend contained what was it now? Gingrich, Pawlenty, Romney and Cantor decrying Fox News? Oh please do elaborate some more! This should be good, as I used to say.......have all the rope you want.

Hey Sir Loin... Don't fall the typical "bait & switch" tactics of the left.

When they don't like the topic of a thread, they change the subject by saying something they know will get a rise out of a conservative, and as soon as they do, the topic that they hated so much, is now gone with the wind.

Thanks for the heads up sir, I really do appreciate it. But can I ask you a question, with all due respect? Does it look to you like I was "falling" for anything here?:smoking:

1. cnn has fallen to last place, behind even HLN, headline news

poor anderson cooper, son of the poor little rich girl, gloria vanderbilt

CNN Drops to Last Place Among Cable News Networks - Media Decoder Blog - NYTimes.com

2. pelosi monday suddenly decided the public option needs a NEW NAME---LOL!

is this because the PO is so successful, because it's winning, because optimisticly pink appear its possibilities of passage?

Pelosi: Health care 'public option' needs new name

just last week the tremulous madam commissioned her melancholy measure, medicare part E---for EVERYone!

olbermann went out-of-his-head, kept pointing to a segment some weeks ago where HE claims he coined the cognomen

this prettier appellation was all that was needed to put the plan over the top, opined the pumped up pundit

the label lasted 24 hours

3. gallup finds 40% of americans call themselves conservative, 36% moderate, with only 20% using that ugly L-word all political candidates run away from, preferring instead the less disreputable (to them) epithet, progressive

Conservatives Maintain Edge as Top Ideological Group

it's all in the naming---LOL!

You weren't falling for the crap that he posted at all, just allowing the topic of the thread to be changed to what he wanted it to be about, rather than what it is actually about.

When they can't argue with whats been posted, it's time for bait & switch... It's just what they do.

the president predictably is already surrendering in the fox news war

we won't ever hear of it again within a week

just like "astroturfers," just like his charge that his critics are "racist"

just like the prosecution of the cia

another desperate attempt, another failed effort, another balloon floated and burst

the only folks ever to mention "cap and trade" revealingly from here out will be his opponents

he's an amateur, fast becoming laughing stock

he has no idea how to lead

fox won, obama lost

it took less than a week

mrs palin pummeled him on "death panels"

beck beat his butt over van jones

joe who's-it wailed "liar" and within a week the white house worked harder anti-illegal headlines into baucus

ms dunn denigrated fox and within a fortnight---another utter defeat

this white house simply has no idea what it's doing

america is not chicago

Except the goldendog bait and switch was truly not even up to 'dog and pony' show status. In the space of less than two pages the dog made poo on the carpet, leaving your thread open to be.......... hijacked by others. Yes as you say it IS what happens on the internet, so you are welcome for helping you with your canine problem.

You are on your own with the next, inevitable problem er hijack attempt.;)

Conservatives do the same thing. It is not a symptom of ideology. It is a symptom of blind ideology.

newspaper sales declined 10.6% over the last 6 months, the greatest decline in journalistic history

Newspaper circulation drop accelerates April-Sept - Yahoo! Finance

daily rags have been falling fast the last several years, as all know, but the steepness of the plunge is speeding up

wsj, the wall street journal, passed usa today as the nation's leading paper, wsj is the only broadsheet to see sales grow

usa today is down 17%

the grey lady fell 7.3, the dallas morning news -22, the sf chron (the paper i grew up on) -26

the chron has shrunk physically, in addition, like a little old lady

its pages are tiny, narrower and shorter, and it's thin as a poor hiv patient

while fox grows mighty, obama's allies in the media become a thing of the past

almost all of us, for example, get most our news off the internet, i most courteously submit

i receive maybe half my prodigious info from stories broken on dp

ideology does not have to be blind, tho much of it is

I concur, and though it took less than a week, why was this the issue the mainstream media decided would be a good place to draw the line?
