"Report: Stray jet's pilots were on laptops"

Report: Stray jet's pilots were on laptops - CNN.com

The pilots of the jetliner that recently flew past its destination by about 150 miles have stated that they were "using their laptops and lost track of time and location". Ain't that just a fine thing ?

These dregs had the lives of passenger and crew in their hands and they were on hier laptops.

Wonder if they post on DP ?
In my opinion these guys need their multi engine licences pulled. I would may be let tel fly crop dusters. Maybe after 15-20 years if they are still alive and can see and hear I would let tem apply again for their multi-engine license, maybe !!!

I hate flying!! This is why.

Imagine being on that flight, not having a clue what went down, till you watched the news that night.

I would be huntin' them dudes down to give'em a good ole' fashion country ass whoopin'.

That's no excuse for not doing their ****ing job. If they don't like their salary, they can go get another job. This isn't the Left Wing days of the company store system. But, as long as they're on the job, it's their responsibility to do their job while they're there.

Especially when they're responsible or the lives of their passengers.

Regardless what the truth really is these two need to be referred to as former pilots very soon. As one who has been as the controls I can say without fear of contradiction job one of any pilot from the Cessna I learned to fly in to a 747 is to know what is going on at all times and to keep you mind on the job and your eyes pealed for any eventuality that might pop up at any second. Sleeping or being on a lap top or just talking so much you over shoot your destination by 150 miles is reason to not just say goodbye to the job but you license for life in my book.

Those ****ers were sleeping. It sounds like a lame excuse some dumbass teenager would come up with.Jimmy why are you drunk, well I was at a social gather and the orange juice has this weird taste but I didn't want to be rude by refusing so I drank lots of it instead, I didn't know it was Vodka.

I thinks pilots somehow must think that if people are dumb enough to buy the they were on the computer or discussing work issues that it will lessen their punishment or reduce the chance of them getting fired. Playing Nerd's Quest, Virgin's quest or what the **** that game is called or chatting on political forums while on duty is just as bad as being asleep on duty. They should be fired and fined and possibly thrown in jail.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

Re: "Report: Stray jet's pilots were on laptops"

I don't really see how the passengers' lives were put into danger by this, aside from the incredibly miniscule (almost nonexistant) chance of colliding with another plane, although if the FAA knew where the plane was that drops to zero. These planes basically fly themselves; the pilots are just there for the takeoff and the landing, for the most part.

All they're guilty of is wasting two hours of their passengers' time, and throwing off their flight schedule as well.

Which they of course should be fired for.
