War on coal

You don't give a rat's ass. Unless it was you house, drinking water, or view. Then it would be a different story.

Some people just don't have the pleasures of living in some of the most beautiful areas on the planet. I feel for them-- I really do.

Unlike those on the left that rely on emotional impact for their arguments to stick, my positions are not affected by my personal situation.

So, no.

Where do I live, and does someone's perception of "beauty" create a sound position on this issue?

OK... but how does the air get in?
There has to be a lot of air going in/out to sustain such a thing.

I'm not sure. Like I said ill look it up when I get home..

Haha That's ridiculous... of course passion and personal situations affect your judgement. Stop lying like that.

You must've missed my point.

This so called Green Revolution is indeed disturbing, but there are instances (like MTR) of the status quo which are even more disturbing. We cannot dismiss acts against MTR, as some Liberal Agenda juxtaposed to what is good for the Country.
And you must have missed mine.
The whining here against coal is based on the 'beastiality' of MTR.
Assume for the moment that MTR is complely eliminated.
What then, the argument against coal?

Damn straight it does. I'm logically driven 90% of the time, but when it comes to my family and my community there's no chance in hell logic will stop me from acting in their best interest.

Not sure, but it would probably be similar to fossil fuels... it's not as bad as DC says, but we still need to look for alternatives that keep jobs, keep costs to a minimum, and are feasible--

Haha That's ridiculous...
This is the typoical reaction of those that eschew logic and reason, and believe that their personal situation is powerful enough to create an argument, the result of which should affect everyone.

News flash:
You, and everything about you, aren't that imporant.

News Flash: Me and mine are all I have. So **** off.

Wanting clean drinking water is emotional? Okaaaaaayyyy...

:tocktock2
:whothere:
:screwy

Really?
OK then... I argue exactly the opposite as you, based on MY perception of beauty.
There. I win.

This must be your girlfriend, then: :2razz:

Ah -- the usual envirofascist claim of the moral high ground.

"Clean" air and water do not exist. Never have, never will.

What you REALLY want is to create a standard of "clean" that will then preclude people enganing in (pick a polluting activity), with the goal not to create "clean" water/air, but to eliminate that activity.

This is farcical, at best, and proof positive that envirofascists are indeed like watermellons -- green on the outside, red in the middle.

This doesnt change the fact that you, and everything about you, aren't that imporant.

It may not be crystal water from a unicorn's bladder, but it's much better than this sediment - orange water that shows up now and then.

It's ridiculous to suggest that coal mining is worth the price.

Of course it's worth the price. It makes electricity cheaper, or it wouldn't be mined.

If the damn sociailsts in Appalachia who keep electing these anti-American, anti-nuclear Luddite socialist slugs to Washington would start electing Americans instead, we'd have enough nuclear power plants to stop mining coal, and then the bee-yoooo-tiful Appalachians could be restored to their pristine natural state and the coal miners could sit home on the front porch of their cabins, barefoot and drinking white lightnin' from a jug, completely out of work.

I'm all for it.

We only lose 5% of coal output and we get to keep the oldest mountain range, and quite frankly the oldest piece of land, in the world.

So you're arguing that MTR will eventually dig to below sea level, is that what you're saying?

Have you heard about the coal mine that caught fire and an entire had to abondand? The mine is expected to burn underground for something like 200 years.

That's why we should go nuclear.

There's no unresolved problems with nuclear power, expect the vexing one of how to make the idiots opposed to nuclear power stop breeding.
