White House attacks worry moderate Democrats

Because other lazy, morons in the media will simply pick up on a Fox fallacy and turn it into real news story through repetition. Then the WH has to spend precious time debunking silliness such as "death panels" and "euthanasia" instead of debating true health care reform.

While I'm sure that some people got that from Fox - Such things were delivered to my inbox NOT by Fox.

*shrug*

Tonight Rachel Maddow (gasp, I know, I watched some of her show) said that Fox is not a legitimate "news station" because it does not side with the government - it, instead, opposes our current leaders.

:rofl
So to be "legitimate news" it has to be "supporting the government at all times"

Well holy cow.

Explain the "blunder". I hear pundits saying it but no one has shown the harm suffered by Obama. I doubt if any of the 65 million people who voted for Obama thought that Fox was a legitimate news organization in the first place. So Obama didn't tell us anything we didn't already know.

I'm not sure there is a blunder as such. The left wing of the democratic party certainly wants this. On the other hand this matter as well as others are energizing the conservatives in this country like you wouldn't believe.

Fox viewership is an inexact science at best but if more people are indeed watching Fox they will reach the same conclusion as the Whitehouse reached. Fox may have more viewers now but far less credibility.

Fox ratings are not only healthy but getting healthier. As for your "credibility theory" the author seemed to feel the loss of viewership at cnn and msnbc was a result of the the public treating obama as a sort of god. They wanted a more realistic news coverage of this administration. I tend to agree with the author.

.....Now, seven months after Barack Obama's victory, CNN's ratings have gone down the drain. From May of last year to May of this year, CNN lost 22% of its total primetime audience. MSNBC was down 2%, while FoxNews was up 24%. In the key advertising demographic (25-54), Fox was up 31%, CNN was down 37% and MSNBC was down 26%. In hard numbers, Fox had 109,000 more viewers than last year while CNN lost 113,000. CNN averaged fewer than 200,000 25-54 viewers in primetime. Even MSNBC averaged more viewers than that.....

If that were true, it makes him look like even more of a crybaby toddler for throwing such a tantrum about them, doesn't it?

:rofl

Not really. After all the yelling and disrespectful screaming Fox sponsored at townhall meetings this summer, it's ok if they get slapped around a little. They're big boys, I'm sure they can handle their beating.

1. That "silliness" had very little to do with Fox News
2. By debunking such "silliness", they are essentially making it more of a news story when if it really is so silly, it should just be ignored.
3. You didn't say why the administration is targeting Fox News instead of targeting the assertions Fox News makes
4. Interesting avatar... do you defend every action Obama and crew make, or do you actually have any individual thoughts of your own?

"Fox sponsored"? Are you really so ignorant as to think Fox had anything to do with those or are you just trolling now?

Fox produced and paid for some of those commercials that promoted the Teabag rallies.

They did blantantly sponsor them.

I'm inclined to believe that all this energy emanating from conservatives may be attributable to other reasons than Obama's censure of Fox.

NEWS FLASH to Dutch: Most people do not buy cable to watch news. Only hardcore political wonks watch cable news. The vast majority of the public still watches network news or use the Internet. So while Fox viewership goes up it is only attracting a very small portion of the population that is already politically active or interested. These are people who have already decided which side they are on.

The Fox weakness is that it is so partisan that it does not have a crossover audience. Educated whites, the youth, women, blacks and latinos, the people that make up the Obama majority, do not watch Fox for news and we view it as an illegitimate news network. If Fox cannot penetrate this market; Obama can attack Fox with political impunity.

If I were Obama I would go for the juglar right now when you have them pinned down.

Kinda like stepping on the head of a poisonous snake and putting it out of it's misery.

As a conservative, that's exactly what I would want obama to do. The farther liberals and leftists pull obama to the left the more you lose the most important and only growing political demographic left....independents.

Demographic Notes - Barack Obama Approval Index
See Demographic Notes for the Election 2008 Presidential Race.

October 22, 2009: Fifty percent (50%) of Democrats Strongly Approve while 66% of Republicans Strongly Disapprove of his performance. Among those not affiliated with either major political party, 18% Strongly Approve and 42% Strongly Disapprove.

"Fox sponsored"? Are you really so ignorant as to think Fox had anything to do with those or are you just trolling now?

The health care rioters are part of the larger "tea-bag" movement. And Fox sponsored the entire movement by providing them with free publicity and organizational assistance. Any screaming tea-bagger that was willing to show his ignorance at a healthcare townhall meeting earned himself air time on Fox that night. These fools were yelling out: "keep your government hands off my Medicare" and "kill the bill" and urging gravely ill patients to seek charity to help them themselves instead of health insurance . And yet, Fox put them on TV and never asked them to explain their lunacy.

Glenn Beck, a Fox News reporter, was the highlight speaker at the tea bagger rally at the Alamo, in Texas. He did not cover the news like a normal reporter; he made the news; more like a political agitator. Fox announced upcoming Democratic townhall meetings for the baggers to attend. Then they rallied these misfits into a bus trip around the country; which culminated in the 9/12 March on Washinton. No other news station provided the type of wall-to-wall coverage that Fox gave to such a fringe movement. So, when you consider the "totality of the circumstances" it is clear that Fox had a substantial interest in this movement. Clearly they cannot claim that they were simply reporting on an independent news story. If you buy that BS then I got a bridge for sale and just for you I'll even throw in the water underneath it.

Nice allegory. You do realize you're wrong of course. The highest purpose of the press is to call the bastards on their bull****. The mainstream press isn't doing that. If it weren't for the fox network we wouldn't know about the acorn scandal, we wouldn't know about that idiot van jones, and we wouldn't know about good ol' anita's dunns speech to those high school kids where she called mao tse tung a great philosopher she thought of on a regular basis.

All this Libbo whining about FNC is just funny. Especially after the crap that the other stations have reported in the past.

I especially like this one:

Newsweek editor Evan Thomas brought adulation over President Obama’s Cairo speech to a whole new level on Friday, declaring on MSNBC: “I mean in a way Obama’s standing above the country, above – above the world, he’s sort of God.”

Independents are highly overrated and did not prove to be decisive in the last election. Obama was elected because he was able to pull out unprecedented numbers of his base. For instance: Indpendents were going to make Pennsylvania a close race and the state could actually go to McCain?Palin; and this was McCain's only road to victory. The 2nd Battle of Gettysburg etc. etc.

As we know now; McCain/Palin got slaughtered in PA. It wasn't even close. The media simply attributes to much power and too large of a vote to Independents. In reality, if we have a good candidate, Democrats can overwhelm both Republiccans and Independents put together. That was the real message of the election of 2008.

Are they "big boys" or just a little fringe network?

Perhaps you should get your story straight before going public.

I think you're mistaken, when you consider that the Republicans and the Demcorats, together, make up less than have the registered voters and both are currently hemoraging members to the Independents.

If I were Krewe Obama I would completely terrified of the independents and the Blue Dog Democrats, in 2012.

I think those independents are Republicans who have left the party in droves.

Oh Yeah!!! Those are the real important issues facing America right now. I lose sleep every night thinking about that notorious Anita Dunn speech to high school students and we all rest a little easier now that the "green-jobs czar" has left Washington. :rofl This crap is utter nonsense and I'm glad the WH called their butts out on the carpet. Now Fox will be under scrutiny for bias reporting. They will either conform to some degree of journalistic integrity or show the world their dirty underwear. This was a brilliant move by the WH.

The Dems are losing folks, too. Not as fast as the Republicans, but losing numbers just the same.

I wholeheartedly agree. :)

Not true, the story broke in a blog. Amazingly enough I watched it originally on the evening news on another network. Crazy...

Because we do not know context there is zero way of determining what she was really saying. Was it, like you claimed about the two headed snake, an allegory? We need more facts to ascertain exactly what is up here.

Don't get me wrong, if she meant it directly like it sounds - this is a big issue.

How many people view that blog compared to the number of people who watch FNC?

......Abramowitz said Democrats are likely to lose 15 House seats in the 2010 election, “and their losses could go as high as 30 to 40 seats,” considering political trends.

According to a Gallup poll, Obama began his presidency with 68 percent approval. For September, that rating averaged 52 percent. This is probably a result of controversial foreign policy and health care reform.

A Rasmussen Report poll shows Obama was at 62 percent in January 2009, and that approval dropped to 49 percent for September.

Gallup reported that Obama has the second-lowest approval rating for September of his first term of any president since Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1953. Former President Bill Clinton had the lowest, and his party suffered major losses in the 1994 midterm elections. Democrats lost eight seats in the Senate and 54 seats in the House, shifting both from a Democratic to a Republican majority.

According to Gallup, Republicans trailed Democrats by 14 percent in party identification in 2008. Democrats now lead by only 5 percent.

Some independents, who helped Obama win the election, have turned against him. According to a poll by the Wall Street Journal and NBC News, 46 percent of independents now disapprove of Obama while only 41 percent approve, compared to 49 percent and 38 percent, respectively, in July........

The argument was that we would not know about ACORN without Fox. This is untrue.

Nope!!! I'm not mistaken. Look at Election Day results in 06 and 08. As George Bush said: "we got thumped". People may not have indicated their party on the registration card but the results speak volumes about party membership. This country is leaning toward the left and will become increasing liberal as older generations of America pass on and are replaced by younger generation, more educated, less fearful of the world, and more tolerant of others.

But you are right that the Republicans are dead. All the energy is going to be invested in the Democratic fight between the liberals and the blue dogs. Obama is the bridge between the two groups that make up the Democratic majority. My concern is the split of these two factions in 2016 when Obama cannot run for the presidency. Maybe we will have to enlist Michelle Obama to run in sweet 16 . What say you???

I think conformity is what the white house is looking for here. As far as journalistic integrity may I assume you mean this kind?

EVAN THOMAS: Well, we were the good guys in 1984, it felt that way. It hasn't felt that way in recent years. So Obama's had, really, a different task We're seen too often as the bad guys. And he, he has a very different job from ... Reagan was all about America, and you talked about it. Obama is - we are above that now. We're not just parochial, we're not just chauvinistic, we're not just provincial. We stand for something, I mean in a way Obama's standing above the country, above above the world, he's sort of God.
