They never won a battle with us. They won plenty against South Vietnam after we left.

    It's a completely different world.

The Nazi machine would have been much more destructive and embedded in societies throughout the world if it had... you know... the internet and other ways of delivering their message quickly and to many people.

Their sanctuaries will look legit come the tanks. You only find the super-crazies and the tribal warriors who actually decide to fight the tank. Like in Iraq for example, you would have AQ forces shoot a burst at an American position, drop their Ak-47, and blend right into the crowd.

I agree. I have not trusted a United States President as head of the military post-Ike.

It doesnt matter what you or I think about this subject. The US built 14+ brand spanking new permanent bases throughout Iraq which was downplayed tremendously in the media recently. Think Ramstein Air Base and Okinawa

"TOKYO - U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates on Oct. 20 rejected demands by Japan's new government to review a deal between the two allies on the future of a controversial major U.S. airbase"

    We lost politically.

I have never really thought about that but.....You do have a point!

Edit:.I take it back...JFK saved us from poor military advise from Curtis LeMay.

by all means, continue deliberating darth veep

    every word wounds your wonderboy

    afghanistan is KILLING this president

ask his apologists on this thread

    afghanistan is his war

it wouldn't be, had he campaigned differently, had he not emphasized the theater as the "right war"

had he not promised so many times victory in that impossible landscape on our planet's far side

actually, on monday, august 17, he reupped politically, verbally his commitment to the effort to extinguish al qaeda and the taliban in the mountains on the moon

“This is not a war of choice. This is a war of necessity. Those who attacked America on 9/11 are plotting to do so again. If left unchecked, the Taliban insurgency will mean an even larger safe haven from which Al Qaida would plot to kill more Americans. So this is not only a war worth fighting; this is a—this is fundamental to the defense of our people.”
That’s why I announced a new, comprehensive strategy in March, a strategy that recognizes that Al Qaida and its allies had moved their base from the remote tribal areas—to the remote tribal areas of Pakistan,” Obama continued.
Obama pledges intensified war in Afghanistan and Pakistan

Even most Repubs don't buy that BS.

I firmly believe he'll get us out of Afghanistan sometime b4 the end of his first term. That's all we can really hope for I think.
