Anti-Palin Book to Look Strikingly Similar to Palin's Own Book

We know that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin can hunt, and even field-dress a moose, but how will she take to poachers on her book sales? Start-up publisher OR Books has announced plans to publish Going Rouge: Sarah Palin An American Nightmare, a collection of essays about the maverick Republican with a title — and cover design — remarkably similar to Palin’s upcoming memoir. What’s more, OR’s paperback tome will be released on Nov. 17, the same day that Palin’s own Going Rogue: An American Life hits shelves — and one day after Palin’s just-announced, first-ever appearance on Oprah Winfrey’s show. (A shout-out to Ron Hogan at GalleyCat for the tip.)

Hmmmm..trademark issues (or something similar - not my area)? I can certainly see that being confusing to the consumer

I'm sure Palin's lawyers are on it and rightfully so. But I do not think they will win.

I see a BIG lawsuit in someone's future. Liable, copywrite infringement. Did they get Palin's permission to use her photo? Probably not.

It's nice to see that the Libbos are still scared ****less of Sarah.

The photographer most likely owns the copyright and if she signed a release there ain't diddly she can do about it from that angle.

I remember Fox news suing Al Franken years ago for doing something similar. They didn't want him using the FNC logo or tag line 'fair and balanced' on the cover of his book. Fox was unsuccessful.

The book being published is a collection of essays on Palin and not a satire or parody... Hmmm. I think OR books may have to change their cover, but we shall see.

Well, usually, lawsuits are all about who gets tired of spending money first. Sarah just got a $7 million advance on her book. I bet she wouldn't be afraid to drop a couple, or three million to make this piece-a-crap go away and I'm betting that OR Books don't have that kind of capital laying around.
