READY TO REVOLT: Oath Keepers pledges to prevent dictatorship in United States - News - ReviewJournal.com

Group asks police and military to lay down arms in response to orders deemed unlawful

By ALAN MAIMON
LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL
Depending on your perspective, the Oath Keepers are either strident defenders of liberty or dangerous peddlers of paranoia.

In the age of town halls, talk radio and tea parties, middle ground of opinion is hard to find.
Launched in March by Las Vegan Stewart Rhodes, Oath Keepers bills itself as a nonpartisan group of current and retired law enforcement and military personnel who vow to fulfill their oaths to the Constitution.

It has been clear to many for a long time that Obama and his minions have been moving in a direction that is counter to the Constitution. the appointment of over 30 people positions of power that are not covered by provision of the Constitution along with fact that he has appointed to some of these positions known self described Communists with views they have talked about that are very close to policies that were in place during the National Socialist Party of 1919to 1945 Germany. This are not speculation or a conspiracy it is known facts.
Another disturbing action under way by Obama is the action now under way to prevent Maricopa County Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio from doing his sworn duty to enforce the laws of the Nation because Obama wants more illegal aliens in the country not less because it helps his personal goals as he openly talked about when he said; "Mar 15, 2008 ... "My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you'll join with me as we try to change it".
What people didn't know at that time was since the election he would attempt to change what Americans believe.

I can't help but find all of this rather hilarious and ironic. Bush is President and many people on the left think the world is going to end and worry about a dictatorship. Many compared him to a nazi as seen on several protest signs. In fact, I remember many people thinking that he would try to extend presidential term limits so he could be our President even longer. People on the right just laughed and rightfully so at these paranoid freaks.

Now that the tables have turned and we have a Democratic President many of the same people who were laughing are now freaking out thinking that the world is going to end and are worrying about a dictatorship. We have people like Glenn Beck crying his eyes out on his show worrying about the end of this country simply because Obama is President.

What is the moral of the story? Both sides of the political spectrum are full of **** and are willing to use hyperbole to serve their personal agendas.

I agree to some extent. I find, however, that the right's exaggerations are worse than anything the left does. That's my biased opinion. Concentration camps. Are you serious?

Are my eyes decieving me? Did I read that right? There's hope for you yet.:2wave:

I think the only reason it appears that way is because the right is willing to go way further than the left is. I mean, the left does have MSNBC, but you don't see anyone on MSNBC crying into the camera and acting like a complete lunatic. They have Keith Olbermann, but I've yet to see one single show where he screams his head off at someone like O'Reilly. The right has someone like Ann Coulter who is primarily there to shock the pants off of people by making outrageous statements. The left doesn't really have anyone that is quite at the level of Ann Coulter. Many would point to Michael Moore as the left's version of Coulter. While Michael Moore does have a clear leftist agenda, he is more interested in pushing that agenda than shocking people like Ann Coulter does.

Sorry...I got you confused with another poster ("aps" and "apdst")

From the article:

Without hesitation, I agree with the latter.

I would agree that Glenn Beck has gone over the edge except that unlike Obama's White House defenders who just make unsubstantiated claims and accusations Glenn backs up what he says with the words of the people in question.
Listen to the words of Anita Dunn and Van Jones. Compare what Obama has done and is openly planning with Hugo Chavez's actions toward industry and Media.
Still see nothing wrong?

That's the most idiotic, moronic statement ever posted on this board.

Please, hire a lawyer and sue your high school and high school history/civics teachers.

They screwed you out of an education.

You might want to use you own advise and go after your grammar school teachers who failed to teach you basic comprehension. The sentence says: "It has been clear to many for a long time that Obama and his minions have been moving in a direction that is counter to the Constitution."
It has been clear to many.
It doesn't say I believe it, does it brainiac?

If you don't believe it what was the point of you making that statement your own personal commentary on the article then?

I think that was the point she was making. The left does not have any one near as extreme in the media(that darn liberal media), nor in the leadership. When the left had Truthers or people thinking Bush was going to try and become dictator, it was clearly the way out fringe left. With the right, it seems to be a much more mainstream part of the party.

No I know. I was just expanding on her point.

Glenn Beck has a clear agenda just like the rest of them. I wouldn't trust him anymore than I would someone like Keith Olbermann. I think much of his interpretations of the words of others is nothing more than hyperbole to further his agenda. Many things can be interpreted many ways and he chooses to interpret things according to his viewpoint.

Did anyone (me) say that it seems as if Bush is either trying to become king OR even propping up the next president to become a king type figure? Yes. (me). The line between democrat and republican only exists on the news and in your mind now days.

Read the rest of your paragraph, genius.

Don't try to back out and run from your words now.

You said it, sweetheart. Now either defend it or admit to EPIC FAILURE OF THREAD.

If you people are honestly denying that Obama has created a cult of personality and along with the Dems in Congress on the quick path to a corporatist society then you're living under a god damn rock.

i see everything wrong with basing your opinions on what glen beck tells you.

Cult of personality, I can see that. But it happens all the time. There was a cult of personality around Reagan, there's a cult of personality around Palin. It's politics, it happens.

As to a "corporatist society", I catagorically reject that. He's trying to keep our economy from tail-spinning into oblivion, but I don't see it moving towards a corporatist society.

As to the Czars, every president since Nixon has had them, whats the problem?

Also, why would Obama want more illegals? It doesn't make sense.

Now what would bother me is if it seemed like there was a significant curtailment of civil liberties going on...

Really? First of all Reagan stopped campaigning after he won the elections. Obama on the other hand is in permanent campaign mode. And second of all I never saw school children singing the praises of Reagan or Palin reminiscent of North Korea and the Third Reich.

Bull****, he has gone so far as to fire a CEO. The regulatory provisions that have been implemented on the auto and financial industries border on direct state control. And now he seeks to do the same exact thing with the health care industry.

As to the Czars, every president since Nixon has had them, whats the problem?

No POTUS has used them as broadly as Obama.

Also, why would Obama want more illegals? It doesn't make sense.

Because down the road the Democratic party fully intends on granting full citizenship to illegals currently living in the country and hopes to gain their votes.

Now what would bother me is if it seemed like there was a significant curtailment of civil liberties going on...

The curtailment of civil liberties is actually one of the last steps taken by a dictatorship. The corporatist must first gain complete control of the whole of society, then the infringement upon the rights of the individual who dare opposes the iron fist of the state can begin.

I would challenge anyone to name a President who has appointed more than a few Czars, and who has named one admitted Communist or Mao worshipers to any position of power or who has friends who we convicted of bombing the Pentagon being in Jail for rioting.
As far believing what Glenn Beck says is concerned, I say don't listen to what he says listen to what glenn beck shows you of Obama's people in their own words.
And for crying out loud try to use facts not attacks. Saul Alinskey tactics are well known and seen for what they are. That being the use of straw men to misdirect because the facts are not refutable. Oh you could pull the race card but that too is a tactical attempt to change the subject because of lack of an intelligent response in the face of the truth.
I saw it in the Attacks on the pompous ass Rush for things he never said. When faced with the truth the racists claim well he would have said it or: Well we know he feels that way. All the hate comes from the leftists but is projected to the right and that's wrong.
