Sharpton, Jackson Attack Limbaugh's Rams Bid

Rush's departure from the NFL was a circumstance of something he praises daily, the free market. Jackson, Goodell, or Sharpton didn't dash his hope, his fellow prospective owners did. They didn't want to deal with the baggage that came along with Rush Limbaugh, so they dumped him. It's that simple.

..And I bet he has a crappy arm....

The citizens of Iowa elected him to stick up for a media guy against a league that has nothing to do with Iowa?

What did this have to do with immigration anyway?

Really....I am so sick of our politicians using their time on SPORTS ISSUES. They are games. Let the players work it out. Can we maybe work out some important ****? Like why I have to work for 5 months to pay my tax bill?

Long as we're fair, Gentlemen, I would agree with your assessments. Long as the rules are played fairly on both sides, I agree.

But when Sheila Jackson Lee is on the House Floor with "I know he is not the kind of owner the NFL needs." She called on the NFL to "do the right thing" and "have some integrity."

Now...Rush is a private citizen and where do we draw the line? Is it not responsible for Rep King to ask Goodell about this matter....to highlight how wrong Democrats were to react as they did? Isn't this getting a tad underblown?

I mean, we've got auto manufacturers being grilled about how they got to the hearings that will seal their fates? We've got attacks on the insurance co's, banks, financial institutions, FoxNews, individuals such as Rush or Sean Hannity...where exactly does it stop?

And with Dems promising they were going to lead without the partisanship and childish antics....I think it about time a Repub steps up in Congress and asks some business owners questions WE'D like answered.....like...do you accept this kind of criticism when vetting potential owners? Indeed, does the government or SHOULD the government be vetting private ownership whatsoever.

So....if both of you were upset about Jackson Lee and just as concerned for her Texas constituencies...I'm with you. If yer unconcerned for why this is an issue in the first place and making the "Iowa didnt elect him for this" argument, I believe that's a tad late to the table.

Sheila Jackson Lee is a bad joke of a representative. I can't stand her. A lot of our representatives grandstand in this nature. It's not a partisan issue.

Well, let's step back from auto assuming King is being partisan here and ask if we should be asking these questions. I'd be bi-partisan interested in this issue, it's getting a tad dangerous when we're attacking private citizens on the House Floor, we've defeated nations in wars who carry out those policies.

Look to how the individual is demonized, look to how that carries to corporations, indeed, entire industries.....and yet some in Congress are claiming Rush is "devisive?"

I gotta disagree, IT, I think this a very valis topic and Iowans would be best served, it's only a matter of time before one of their favorite sons are demonized. Lee and other Congresspeople started this, I think it more than appropriate King seeks to end it with pie all over the face of Reps like Lee.

Perhaps he should have addressed Rep. Lee instead of Roger Goodell. Him scolding a private citizen is worse than Lee IMO. I can understand a politician wanting to discredit a political commentator who they believe that spreads misinformation. If you want to look to the origins of this you will need to look to the attacks on the "liberal media" that started decades ago.

What private citizen are you talking about, Roger Goodell? King wasn't scolding, he was asking the NFL Commish some questions. If he had questioned Goodell's [personal integrity...like Lee did Limbaugh's, I could see your opinion making sense here. Right now, it doesn't.

Sorry...not a good analogy. Should Lee had attacked right radio...it wouldn't have been right, but it would have fit your analogy. Someone going after "liberal media" is going after the slant the news media put on the news or current events. Wholesale different from isolating a member of the media and calling them out. As well, Lee went after Limbaugh for...not his slant on the news, your liberal media analogy once again misplaced. Lee went after Rush attempt to own a private company citing his integrity because of his political views. You aren't making good analogies here, imo, you're not defending your position either. What are you trying to say?

It's highly likely that Rush's application is going too be denied because of his racist statements and it should be. But this is only going to stoke his fire and he is going to use it as ammo because he was picked on by the mean ol black establishment and that is what he will scream to his wacko base.

Do stoke his fire - it will burn out more quickly. Keep other racists out of it, they will just add more fuel.
That conservatives have not STRONGLY denounced Limbaugh places them in the same fireplace as Muslims who have not STRONGLY denounced bin Laden.

What should Rush be denounced for?

I'm convinced. If Al Franken says it, then it must be true....

Hmmm....... I figured it out myself when I heard what El Rusbo spewed out on a daily basis but I thought the book might be helpful to others.

Al Franken spewed out much worse every day before he stole money and bankrupted Air America.

Franken is a frigging scholar compared with El Rushbo. Rush's popularity is that of a televangelist who appeals to peoples fears. The tactics are strikingly similar and both tend to prey on the weak and infirm among us.

Oh yeah, he's a scholar.

"Limbaugh graduated from Cape Central High School, in 1969. His father and mother wanted him to attend college, so he enrolled at Southeast Missouri State University. He dropped out after two semesters and one summer; according to his mother, "he flunked everything", even a modern ballroom dancing class."
