Sharpton, Jackson Attack Limbaugh's Rams Bid

So having conservative views, one should be punished? How statist of you.

Has nothing to do with Rush being a conservative and everything to do with him being a hatemonger. No surprise that all his money can't buy him love now.

So will you feel the same way about this if Soros is found to be a contributing member to this group? Soros, major funder of MoveOn.Org (You know, the group that took out a full page ad calling a standing general during war time essentially a traitor) and outspoken extreme liberal activist. Will Michael Wilbon and Kevin Blackenstone write up large articles criticizing him, warning how damaging he'd be having such a "controversial" figure owning a team in the NFL, using false quotes by him because they're ****ty reporters that don't bother researching anything or out of context comments?

Somehow, I'm not expecting that to happen.

Yeah? Most of his shrillest critics don't see any difference between the two, and I think that's pretty clear in this thread. So no, I don't buy that in the least.

So there we have it....

A guy that exercises his first amendment rights and says controversial things who would be a minority owner behind the scenes must have a sweeping amount of public demand to keep him away.

But a guy that was touted as a role model, as a face of the NFL, who committed not a mistake but a systematic continual violation of the law and a continual repeated attempt to hide and lie about that fact should be lauded and cheered for to get his "right" to a second chance.

I swear people boggle my mind sometimes.

It's a double standard indeed.

I'm not expecting it to happen either. None of those hold a candle to hate spewed from El Rushbo on a daily basis.

Karma seems to have dealt with the situation very well however!

Hatemonger? Any actual evidence to back this up?

I think sharpton and jackson fit that role better anyway.

Like what did he spew? Links and quotes please. This is sophomoric at best.

Hatemonger? Any actual evidence to back this up?

Just listen to his show where he spews hate on a daily basis. You can't spew hate daily and expect people to think well of you.

"Here’s Our Top 10 Racist Rush Limbaugh Quotes

1. I mean, let’s face it, we didn’t have slavery in this country for over 100 years because it was a bad thing. Quite the opposite: slavery built the South. I’m not saying we should bring it back; I’m just saying it had its merits. For one thing, the streets were safer after dark.

2. You know who deserves a posthumous Medal of Honor? James Earl Ray [the confessed assassin of Martin Luther King]. We miss you, James. Godspeed.

3. Have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?

4. Right. So you go into Darfur and you go into South Africa, you get rid of the white government there. You put sanctions on them. You stand behind Nelson Mandela — who was bankrolled by communists for a time, had the support of certain communist leaders. You go to Ethiopia. You do the same thing.

5. Look, let me put it to you this way: the NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it.

6. The NAACP should have riot rehearsal. They should get a liquor store and practice robberies.

7. They’re 12 percent of the population. Who the hell cares?

8. Take that bone out of your nose and call me back(to an African American female caller).

9. I think the media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. They’re interested in black coaches and black quarterbacks doing well. I think there’s a little hope invested in McNabb and he got a lot of credit for the performance of his team that he really didn’t deserve.

10. Limbaugh attacks on Obama. Limbaugh has called Obama a ‘halfrican American’ has said that Obama was not black but Arab because Kenya is an Arab region, even though Arabs are less than one percent of Kenya. Since mainstream America has become more accepting of African-Americans, Limbaugh has decided to play against its new racial fears, Arabs and Muslims. Despite the fact Obama graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law school, Limbaugh has called him an ‘affirmative action candidate.’ Limbaugh even has repeatedly played a song on his radio show ‘Barack the Magic Negro’ using an antiquated Jim Crow era term for black a man who many Americans are supporting for president. Way to go Rush.

So Rush Limbaugh has managed to make racist attacks on four of the most admired and respected people of African descent in the past one hundred years, in Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Colin Powell and Barack Obama. He has called for the assassin of Martin Luther King to be given a medal, and said slavery was a good thing. He has claimed that Joe the Plumber, who isn’t even a plumber is more important in this election than Colin Powell, a decorated military veteran who has served honorably in three administrations. How can the Republican party stand by this man and let their candidates appear on his show? Rush Limbaugh’s comments are so racist, they’re funny, in a Borat, Archie Bunker kind of way. What is not funny is the millions of dittoheads who listen to him, who take in and re-spout all the racist rhetoric that he spits. Limbaugh’s statements are echoed in the racist, angry Palin/McCain supporters who shout ‘kill him,’ ‘terrorist,’ ‘communist,’ ‘traitor,’ ’socialist’ and ‘off with his head.’"

He never said this.

2. You know who deserves a posthumous Medal of Honor? James Earl Ray [the confessed assassin of Martin Luther King]. We miss you, James. Godspeed.

False.

WikiQuote's bogus, circular smear of Rush Limbaugh (Jack Huberman; James Earl Ray quote)

3. Have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?

Just because jackson is black, does not make this statment racist. Sorry.

4. Right. So you go into Darfur and you go into South Africa, you get rid of the white government there. You put sanctions on them. How is this racist?:doh

5. Look, let me put it to you this way: the NFL all too often looks like a game between the Bloods and the Crips without any weapons. There, I said it.

Again, how is this racist?

6. The NAACP should have riot rehearsal. They should get a liquor store and practice robberies.

No more racist than Obama's white grandmother comment.

7. They’re 12 percent of the population. Who the hell cares?

Context?

8. Take that bone out of your nose and call me back(to an African American female caller).

He regrets saying it, and has said so.

9. I think the media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. They’re interested in black coaches and black quarterbacks doing well. I think there’s a little hope invested in McNabb and he got a lot of credit for the performance of his team that he really didn’t deserve.

uhm how is this racist? He states the media is racist.

Barak the magic negro is a play on what a liberal stated about Obama. Selective much?

Did you write any of this? or are you parroting talking points?

FAIL

Two points:

1)Any one who says or does controversial things cannot expect those controversial things to just be forgotten. Rush made his money saying outrageous things, he has no room to complain when there is a backlash. Same goes for Soros or anyone else. The reason you hear about this issue with Rush and not Soros is people know who Rush is, but not Soros. It's not unfair media representation, just that Soros is not much of a story, Rush is.

2) It's time for you right wingers to come up with a new excuse besides pointing to some one else every time. It's getting old, and it's not a real excuse. I will happily condemn the idiots on my side, and do so regularly, people like you and the Rev for example, tend to avoid condemning, and instead try and point to others so you don't have to.

I just have to thank that poster.

They showed exactly what I was talking about.

I don't blame the owners and players. They're just stupidly following along with what the horribly biased reporters are saying as if its the gospel truth because you expect reporters to be truthful and actually fact check ****, and thus they let their assumptions, stereotypes, and PREJUDICES against Rush Limbuagh and Conservatives take over and thus they automatically believe the bull**** that's spewed.

The first two things on the story AREN'T EVEN TRUE. No One has been able to provide actual factual back up that those things ever were said by him. That calls into question the thing from the start.

The rest is a smattering of 30 year old comments since acknowledged as wrong, items taken completely without context, sarcatic comments, or opinions about people that happen to be black so they're labeled as racist.

Its asinine.

To Redress.

I have no problem calling out people on my side. I called Sarah Palin's idiotic use of the term Death Panel just that. I had no problem ripping into someones opinion just today trying to proclaim that Glen Beck is some truth stating visionary and Obama's a socialist. However, I'm not going to mindlessly like a Zombie attack anyone on my side that happens to say something controversial without actually looking at the goddamn context of it at first.

From the get go with this I've stated quite clearly, on the business end of this, I have no problem with the NFL or the owners voting this guy down. Fine by me. No problem. Capitalism is capitalism and Rush set it up to happen by being a controversial public figure. No problem there.

My issues have been about things other than that.

Its been about Sharpton and Jackson, and those like them, saying Mike Vick has a right to earn a living playing in the NFL again but then call for the NFL to disallow Rush Limbaugh into the league even if owners vote on him.

Its about a media society that has no issues writing great endorsements of why Mike Vick must be given a second chance after a systematic years long violation of federal laws using money garnered in part due to his immense status as a face of the league all while lying to the commisioner about it, yet makes up false information to spur a tidal wave against Rush Limbaugh simply because he exercises his constitutional right to free speech.

Its about the potential double standard of attempting to say that its about him being "controversial" and then allow George Soros in; showing its not about being controversial, but HOW he's controversial.

Its not about the business thing. I'm not saying "woe is Rush Limbaugh". Rush does his actions, and suffers those consequences. Rush not getting in with the Rams is partially Rush's fault, unquestionably...though at the same time he'd not even be in a position to be able to buy part of them if not for the reasons that are kepeing him out of it, ironically enough. What I'm commenting on is more the surrounding circus around it. The hypocracy, the double standards, the worthless media culture, etc.

Karma Defined: Karma means that "as you sow, so also shall you reap" in this and other lifetimes until you understand the complete consequences of all your actions. Karma is the principle of cause and effect, action and reaction, total cosmic justice and personal responsibility.

Sharpton and Jackson are idiots, and alot like Rush. They say outrageous things and as such get media time. Why does any one taker anything they say seriously. But they are not at fault here either. They could have said nothing and the end result with this would be the same.

Its about the potential double standard of attempting to say that its about him being "controversial" and then allow George Soros in; showing its not about being controversial, but HOW he's controversial.

The difference is if you ask 10 people who Soros is, 1 might no. If you ask 10 people who Rush is, and I doubt any don't know. People don't much care about people they do not know.

This whole issue has been nothing but exaggeration and overblown rhetoric, and yet was sure to end just as it did, and it's no ones fault but Rush's. I am tired of people playing the victim here. It's not some liberal plot, not the liberal media, it is all Rush's own fault he did not get the team.

I accept your concession that your talking points were crap.

The NFL denied Rush but not Soros? That's BS. Soros is a partisan political figure. He should have nothing to do with the NFL.

They were not my talking points, they were sourced quotes from El Rushbo as the article I linked demonstrated.

There is nothing to concede. The organization has already refused Rush's bid. The consequences of his actions have been dealt with already.

Rush's chickens have already come home to roost.

A source linking to a book at amazon.com??? You call that a source??? :rofl

Does not matter. Goodell's comment was about someone that stated he was controversial and made "Devisive statements", both of which can be attributed to Soros. Not that he was "well known and did x, y, z" but simply that he's done, and routinely, does them. So does Soros. Maybe he's not as in front of things as Rush is, but he does them. Its not my fault Goodell said what he did, and its not my fault for calling him out on it.

Bull**** on that. Its partially Rush's fault but you're absolutely wrong on it being no one elses fault.

Let me ask you this.

If this didn't get leaked to the media, like it shouldn't have by the confidentiality rules of this, do you think Rush would still have been part of the buyers group?

If Kevin Blackenstone and Michael Wilbon and others didn't write articles filled with contextless comments, some of which they've been uneven to even prove is real, which was then reuttered and used as the backbone for most of the complaints by sports talk radio, owners, the commissioner, and players do you think Limbaugh would still be part of the buyers group?

If your answer is "yes" to either of those, then how can you put the blame fully on Limbaugh? This is akin to saying the fault is completely on a female for wearing skimpy clothes and walking back to her car, parked near an alley, alone from a club one night if she gets raped.

I am not saying Limbaugh is an innocent angel in this. Stop trying to put words in my mouth through your implications. I'm not saying Limbaugh is blameless. But you're ludicrous to be sitting here and telling me that this situation would play out like it has if someone didn't wrongfully leak that he was a member of this group, and then if these stories citing false quotes and without context quotes that provided the foundation for most players and owners complaints wasn't put out.

Rush's chickens have already come home to roost.

....you've got to be ****ing kidding me.

Do you know what "sourcing" is.

To say that you the article "Sourced" them from Rush Limbaugh then they would need to denote when they were said, with some ability to actually go check that. They don't.

Jesus Christ, tell me you never went to college or else you'd never make it through any class that actually required sources.

I can't say "Obama said he had homo sex and smoked crack" and then when you ask me for a souce say "Obama's my source" and expect you to consider that freaking credible because that's not sourcing.

Sourcing would be saying "On his show on november 13th, 1991, Rush Limbaugh stated [x]". This way, people could actually go and try and find transcripts or copies of said show and actually check to see if the person is full of **** or not.

Instead this person took quotes other people have stated Limbaugh read, with absolutely NO research done and NO fact checking done and NO attempt to actually get it right, and just state it as if its fact that he says it. And now, when Limbaugh says its not true, he never said it, you're saying its on HIM to prove its wrong?

Do you also think its incumbant upon Obama to do everything and anything the birthers say to prove their wrong, since they're the ones making the ludicrous claims and he's denied it so obviously its on HIM to prove it

Rush informed the guy in charge of the group months ago that hell would be raised about his participation. Apparently he told Rush he had already greased the skids, but now it's obvious he didn't use enough grease.

A source linking to a book at amazon.com??? You call that a source??? :rofl

That was just one of the sources, but it matters not whether you can accept it or not. Rush's punishment has already been dealt. His chickens have already come home to roost.

Rush has already reaped what he sowed.

That was the only source for the first two quotes. I think some more chickens will be coming home to roost, namely everyone that claimed he said those two things.

And I'm not saying the result would be different if they did anything. Redress, quote me where I said that. You're putting words in my damn mouth. I said I'm commenting on their hypocracy and the hypocracy of those supporting them.

I did not make any claims about you there, so calm down. I made claims about the situation in a reply to you. Yes, they are hypocritical, and I was critical of them when they supported Vick. I just don't think they are important enough or worthwhile enough to get upset about. They are classic fringe element loonies that we would best ignore, since they have little to no real ability to affect anything.

It does matter. Some of what I say is controversial, but no one would care if I tried to buy a football team since no one knows who I am or what I said. Soros has the defense of anonymity.

Once Rush's name came out, it was inevitable that this would happen. Rush has made a career out of pissing people off and saying outrageous things, and Rush has been incredibly successful doing so, so he is a household name with every one having an opinion on him, and as such is pretty divisive. All the other stuff was just fuel to the fire that was already there, and already made the result inevitable.
