wait, what? what do the colts and bears have to do with anything regarding rush?
I was giving it as an anecdotal bit of information one could use to argue Rush's point. Leading up to that super bowl you'd think there was a civil rights march going to be happening rather than a football game. After it you'd be more inclined to believe Tony Dungy won the game due to the hardships of slavery then because of him being an absolutely STELLAR coach. The media was OBSESSED with race during that, to the exclusion of a variety of other storylines (Hester's amazing ability as a rookie? Peyton possibly finally getting over the hump? Urlacher's chance to establish himself firmly in the annals of Bears linebacker history, etc).
No, there is no direct evidence that the media over rated McNabb because he's black. There's no direct evidence that London Fletcher doesn't get the pro bowl nods that Ray Lewis gets because he's not a vocal, in your face, boistrous personality. However the argument can be made based on the facts surrounding it.
Factually, statisically McNabb was a decent to good QB during that time that time.
Factually, there's evidence of the media having a field day with racial based reporting and stories because of its "feel good" nature.
Factually, a solid argument could be made out that McNabb during that time was being made out to be a Brady/Peyton type of "elite" QB, of which the stats don't back up.
As such, one could reasonable come to the conclussion that Rush did. Does that mean its the correct conclussion? NO. But its not an absolutely ludicrous one either.
my thought that he's a racist doesn't rest on that single comment. it's his entire body of work.
Yes, we've seen. Your beliefs of him being racist is based on a 30 year old quote without context. I'm sure the vast majority of the country has never uttered anything in their youth that doesn't completely reflect how they feel currently.
;-) i'm sorry your team sucks, why take it out on me? i'm a colts fan.
Not taking it out on you, just reenforcing a point you disagreed with me on.
I would prefer Rush Limbaugh, or a liberal equivilent there of, over my current owner because I fully and utterly believe that Limbaugh's common sense of emulating those that have success mixed with his long time fanhood of the Steelers will lead him to be an intelligent owner that stays in the owners box smoking cigars more than trying to play GM.
