Sharpton, Jackson Attack Limbaugh's Rams Bid

Sharpton, not Jesse Jackson, and supposed to be through a bull horn (parodying his constant protesting).

And honestly, I didn't think the impersonation of Sharpton was that much farther off than well...every impersonation I've heard of Sharpton, even from the bastion of right winger propoganda (just ask CNN) SNL.

Granted, I'm sure this may get me lambasted as racist (Though if I said the same thing with "redneck" or "southern" it wouldn't) Sharpton does have a very stereotypical boistrous black preacher accent to his speech. If they took say, Obama, and instead made him sound like that when he has a completely different pitch, tenor, and inflection than Sharpton then I may be with you on that. But Sharpton sounds like that stereotype like Jeff Foxworthy's voice sounds like the redneck stereotype.

:lol: I was giving him some rope.... ;

you blew it! ;) :2razz::mrgreen:

Yes, that's right. And he was a dumbass to say it. McNabb got accolades because of his own merit, not because of his colour. Overrated??? No freakin way. Look at what he had accomplished before those comments. :doh

You must have watched a different McNabb than I did back then. I never heard Rush's comments at that time, but I felt the same way. What quarterback were you watching? McNabb has a career rating of about 86, very sub par. His best year (except for the 2 games he played this season = 123 rating) was the 2004 super bowl year rated 104. The Eagles were 107-69-1 during the same 9 - 10 yrs that McNabb attained a mediocre QB rating of 86. That tells me that they won despite his performance most of the time... therefore, Rush's comments were probably appropriate.

I think that in this case the statistics do not lie!

God Damnit Ikari!

I promised myself I'd put my head through the wall the next time I saw freaking obnoxious ass Mercury Morris after his annoying ass was on continually during the year the Patriots went undefeated. The guy drives me up the wall with how obnoxious he is.

It's not just them, as alot of NFL players are pissed at some of his comments(one quarterback only got the job because he was black, and NFL games look like "the Crips vs the Bloods"), but it is still much ado about nothing. If Rush has the money and makes the best bid, why shouldn't he own a football team?
don't the other owners have to vote him eligible? if they do, no problem. but no one has to play for him.

Hahah, the whole of that Dolphins team is annoying. Almost as bad as that Eli Manning commercial he made after that Super Bowl.

The current owner of the team or commissioner of football can block the deal. And I'm sure that people will turn down millions of dollars a year because Limbaugh is part owner. Mmmmhmmmm.

I think those players need to grow a pair or at least learn themselves on actually what was said.

Other than that, we agree.
here's what he said:

The full quote: "The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well. There is a little hope invested in McNabb, and he got a lot of credit for the performance of this team that he didn't deserve."

clearly rush doesn't know football.

people turn down signing with particular teams all the time.....ask eli manning or john elway.

clearly rush doesn't know football.

Are you sure Rush is the one here that doesn't know football? Cause someone doesn't seem to be aware of McNabb's stats during the time of question.

don't the other owners have to vote him eligible? if they do, no problem. but no one has to play for him.

No one has to refuse to play for him, either.

I think 'fore long, the political crap is going to die off and the dollar signs are going to become more visible.

people turn down signing with particular teams all the time.....ask eli manning or john elway.

It usually has something to do with money, not politics.

So two people turn down the team, and then all of a sudden you're thinking maybe some mass walk out or something? Who cares? First off the Rams already suck, it's not like they're gonna get worse. Second off, there will always be someone willing to play for the Rams. Third off, people will eventually get over it. All this hoopla right now are just dumbasses who hate Rush Limbaugh trying to vent. Fine enough, but all the "racist" crap going around isn't supported. Hell even Morris said he ain't racist. And he's black. And old school football.

here's what he said:

Based on what?

How in the world do you take that line and say clearly he doesn't know football?

Is it based off McNabb's career QB rating?

Is it based off his stats that season? Of which in the end he was in the middle of the pack for the entire year?

Seriously, where in the world does Rush insinuating that McNabb isn't as good as many in the media were making him out to be due to the fact they were over hyping him due to their own desire to have an iconic black QB lead to him not knowing a lot about football.

I can understand disagreeing with that statement....but you're acting like its completely and utterly unthinkable and its just not.

I'll be the first to say it here.

I'd happily take Rush Limbaugh or a Liberal equivilent who seemed as knowledgable about Football as Rush over the dimwitted midget idiot we have owning my team currently.

Just had to get a bit of Snyder hate in this thread.

Hell, if there's one thing going for Rush is that he's grew up as a fan of possibly the most well ran franchise in SPORTS, let alone in the NFL, with the Steelers. If there's anyone to potential emulate when owning a team, its the Steelers.

It's obvious that you don't watch the Eagles much.

Why do you think 2004 was his greatest year?? I'll give you a clue. It starts with "T" and ends with an "O." Since his inception with the club, he's had the worst bunch of wide receivers. I think in 2 of his years, his top receiver was the tight end. Despite that, his numbers were impressive. Enough to get him to the Pro Bowl 6 times.

Didn't Rush start out as a sport caster making something like 19k when he was 40?

Are you sure Rush is the one here that doesn't know football? Cause someone doesn't seem to be aware of McNabb's stats during the time of question.
mcnabb has proved himself, and since when is the "media desirous of a black qb doing well"?

who cares?

and as a football fan, you know stats aren't everything.

I wonder if all the Libbos would be making such a fuss if McNabb was white. Just curious.

So you think McNabb during the early 2000's was a top 5 QB in the league?

As a football fan, I'm incredibly biased and believe the Bears are the greatest thing since streaming Netflix over XBox Live (the greatest thing EVAH). But looking at the circumstance, in a year where McNabb was middle of the pack; you couldn't get away from the McNabb **** sucking going on by the media. I think Rush hit the nail on the head with his comment.

You live in Detroit?

Exactly! People who are out there running their mouths against Rush don't know what they are talking about.

Video - Breaking News Videos from CNN.com

The headline is a bit misleading. Morris does call Limbaugh a bigot, and defines what he means by such (I think the definition applies to a great number of people, including some here rallying against Rush). But it was in contrast to people calling him racist, he's claiming Rush isn't racist. But in the end, it's actually a defense (much to the disappointment of the CNN jackass) of Rush.
Interesting video. I remember watching Mercury Morris. He's very well spoken. I agree with him.

He was highly overrated. That doesn't mean that one doesn't belong in the NFL or that they aren't decent. It means they are overrated, and at the time he was. Limbaugh was fired, whatever. But people still trying to drum up the ol' "Limbaugh is a racist" are just being stupid.

I don't agree at all that he was overrated.

I wonder if all the Libbos would be making such a fuss if McNabb was white. Just curious.

We needed a generic and inaccurate attack on "libbos" in this thread. Thanks for supplying the stupid comments.
