Re: White House Escalates War of Words With Fox News

Now Democrats are telling Obama that he is wrong. Many are realizing that they will feel the public's wrath in next year's elections.

A White House effort to undermine conservative critics is generating a backlash on Capitol Hill — and not just from Republicans.

“It’s a mistake,” said Rep. Jason Altmire, a moderate Democrat from western Pennsylvania. “I think it’s beneath the White House to get into a tit for tat with news organizations.”

Altmire was talking about the Obama administration’s efforts to undercut Fox News. But he said his remarks applied just the same to White House efforts to marginalize the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a powerful business lobby targeted for its opposition to climate change legislation.

“There’s no reason to gratuitously piss off all those companies,” added another Democrat, Rep. Jim Moran of Virginia. “The Chamber isn’t an opponent.”

I sense a bloodletting at the White House if his advisers keep sending him down these dead end lanes... or maybe it's just Obama himself being foolish.

I think that the Obama machine only knows the Chicago way, and it's not playing well in DC.

Re: White House Escalates War of Words With Fox News

and how about that vicious attack on the chamber of commerce?

that's working out real well too

jason altmire, dem from PN, on obama's assault against fox: "it's a mistake, i think it's beneath the white house to get into a tit for tat with news organizations"

jim moran: "there's no reason to gratuitously piss off all these companies, the chamber isn't an opponent"

brad ellsworth, dem from IN, has also spoken out against the stupidity of standing off the C of C

    sanford bishop of GA, too

a senior house dem, on condition of anonymity: "i have no problem with going after rush at all, i don't have MUCH of a problem with fox, i think the chamber's another story"

for every one dem willing to go on record, how many are thinking the same in safer silence?

What is being called out it is the lies and distortions that they are constantly trying to feed people. So they can divide our country for self-serving political needs of the Republican party....AGAIN.

It's about time the Dems stepped up and called out people for these types of disgusting tatics.

    GOOD JOB.

This is the sort of blind partisanship that doesn't get us anywhere. If Fox News was the only douche bag network out there, maybe I could see a point of excluding them. But they aren't. The vast majority of the mainstream media act in similar behavior. But they do so for the other side. Fox is being singled out due to its political leanings and being denied access to the White House (or attempted rather) based on those political leanings. That is not right. The press is a necessary tool of the People to watch and constrain the government. It must be kept free. It would be great if all our media outlets conducted themselves in a fair, and informative manner; but they don't. Most have slants one way or the other. Fine, political commentary, they're free to do that. But they must still have access to the government, the People still need to know what the government is doing.

If it's such blatant and significant hyperbole, spin, and lies; than counter with the truth. Trying to use government force to suppress a media outlet due to its political agenda is not something I believe is within proper power of the government. Yes, when you watch any news outlet you have to be wary of its propaganda. Until we can stomach information over base, unintelligent entertainment; that's not going to change. We can't do much about it, other than use consumer habits to force an dull, intelligent, independent news network. But dissent mustn't be prohibited.

What if the government that Fox New constantly wants to project doesn't even exist. They can make up their own stories, as they do now, without attending can't they?

If Fox News engages in libel and slander, the administration can counter with the truth. If grievous enough and provable, maybe even bring lawsuit. Till that point, there's nothing we can rightfully do about it. And the government cannot be permitted to act against the press to silence dissent. That's freedom for you.

Well, it's not like obama had a lot of qualifications as president. He's a two term senator who was a community organizer.

Past VP's for instance had major experience as far as politics and governing goes and look what Afghanistan looks like today under the leadership and policies of those qualified people.

    What's your point?
