IMO, it's the most abused charge in the military. I was in the infantry, so I never had to deal with female soldiers...thank God!...but I've heard some stories from NCOs that did have to deal with females and I don't see how they did it. I would lost my patience with all that BS and went to the stockade for kicking the crap out of someone.

The fact that sexual harrassment is so abused, is the reason that I believe that when gays are allowed to serve openly, the sexual harrassment rate is going to skyrocket.

I had to roast a soldier because he told a female officer that her uniform was looking good and winked at her. It's rediculous what can constitute sexual harrassment in the service.

You're thinking like a civilian. We're talking about the military.
Just out of curiosity, how exactly could being open about your sexual orientation be interpreted as sexual harassment?

It could interpreted as a sexual advance.

This might be Obama's lone accomplishment while in office.

That, and winning the Nobel Peace Prize and the Heisman Trophy.

Yes I can see were the fear would arise that one's penis might be involutarily thrust into a fellow soldiers ass.

I don't think he's going to be able to abolish DADT, so the Nobel and the Heisman are going to be all his accomplishments.

How so? There's nothing to suggest a sexual advance by merely being open about your sexual orientation. Anyone who would get offended by such a thing would have be incredibly insecure and paranoid.

You're probably right -- The Obama needs to get Congress to do it, and that's nowhere near a certainty.

That's what they're there for, to soldier, not worry about looking at a female the wrong way and getting smacked with some crazy sexual harrassment charge.
So, let's forget about gay issues for a moment... What would it take to reasonably redefine what SH is all about? I mean making a pass is not SH. Neither is making a suggestive comment. "I'll spank your ass" variety. But verbally harrassing a female about what you are going to do to her if you catch off-post would be some sort of crime, though not necessarily SH. Physically groping would be. Then how do you prove it? What is the standard of proof now? Her accusation is probably enough, right? That's gotta change too. What do you think? It's a tricky problem.
