State Department Lauds Obama's Nobel Peace Prize by Making Jab at Bush - Political News - FOXNews.com

In a clear dig at former President George W. Bush, a State Department spokesman compared President Obama's Nobel Peace Prize to the flying footwear his predecessor faced in Iraq.

"From our standpoint, you know, we think that this gives us a sense of momentum … when the United States has accolades tossed its way, rather than shoes," State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley told reporters on Friday

Real Classy of this White House, I hope that the Republican's attack the White House over this. If Mr. Obama doesn't fire thi sperson by the end of the weekend then his true colors will be shown, and the Republicans should take the glove's off and go into attack mode.

What was so horrible about that that he is now unable to perform his duties at the State Dept.?

Bush did have shoes thrown at him. I bet he laughs about it himself. I would. Obviously, many around the world view our country differently with him as President. It may or may not be deserved, but it is encouraging.

hehe that was a funny line.

So now making a harmless joke is grounds for a firing?

This person is in a madated apolitical position. He should be dismissed instantly.

See that is the problem with the conservatives they think that we all should just ignore reality and somehow move forward while ignoring that reality.

Bush was a douche..why should anybody have to ignore that fact?

Are people getting their little feelings hurt because their great and honest and forthright George Bush gets alittle criticism?

Get real.

This is silly. It was an amusing joke from someone who probably said it with a harmless laugh and smile. Some of you people need to lighten up around here.

It was a joke. Albeit, a tasteless joke. But then, our politics are rather tasteless lately. I would even say cras and vulgar.

Should he be dismissed? No. Should he be made to publically apologize for being tasteless? Definitely.

Oh typical crap from all of you on the Left, hmmm if something is said about Mr. Obama that person is called a Racist.

If you don't get it then here is prime example of whats wrong with our politics, there are certain things you don't do and taking pop shots at former Presidents is one of the biggest no no's.

Where did I call someone who criticized Obama a racist? I'll wait.

Since when are former Presidents off limits?

Former presidents aren't "off limits" but it is kind of cras and lacking ambition to continually define one's presidency by pointing out the failures of the previous administration.

Look, we all know Dubya was a less than shining example of what we want in an American president. That doesn't give this new one a free pass to say "b-b-but look at the laaaaast one" as a way to excuse his own short comings.

You think that Obama directed Crowley to make that joke?

Simple fact if you make a comment about Mr. Obama your label as a Racist did you or Redress make such statement none that I'm aware of but the simple fact is that us who don't like Mr. Obama are called Racist by you folks who like Mr. Obama.

As for your other question no former presidents aren't off limits to you and I but they are off limits for the present sitting White House. Never have I heard any sitting White House make such comments about Former Presidents. Yes they have made comments about their policy's but never a direct attack or comment. That is off limits and this person needs to be fired on the spot.

Well if Mr. Obama did then he needs to give back the little prize he was award, do I think he did no but as the saying goes The Buck Stops With Me (Harry Truman) so Mr. Obama needs to do the right thing and 1) Fire this moron 2) Offer a puplic apologie to Mr. W. Bush 3) Direct a Memo stating this type of behavor will not be allowed

It's fine to attack Mr. W Bush policy's but to take direct pop shots is off limits and all this does now is cheapen the office of the President.

You think that Obama directed Crowley to make that joke?

I think he is Obama's underling and that Obama might do well to take some responsibility for "his people".

I know if anyone under me at work made a cras statement on behalf of my department, I would be taking some flack for it whether I directed him to or not. Why should Obama be held to a lower standard than me, the I.T. guy at a nonprofit?

Then maybe you may want to retract the strawman you were building:

Oh typical crap from all of you on the Left, hmmm if something is said about Mr. Obama that person is called a Racist.

You said "all of you on the Left". Did you not mean that?

Direct attack? You are kidding right?

If some one calls you a racist for being critical, then call them on it. Attacking people who have not called you a racist because others have is not going to work real well though.

I guess one can find that funny. I was not ammused when the poor Bush had shoes thrown at him by that unstable Iraqian.

Wheteher or not I agrred with the Bush like him or not I do not like a pesident of my country being treated like garbage poorly by some deranged foreigner.

Furthermore the shoes indicent was a slap att al Americans.
Only we American have the right to treat Bush with caustion or disdain.

Are you telling me that if someone came into your place of employment and threw shoes at someone, and that someone then no longer works there, but his replacement was given an award, you couldn't make a joke about his predecessor?

I fail to see what is so crass about this joke.

LOL.....yes Jallman. You are far left to some of the right-wing wackos that post here.......my leftwing friend.
