In a clear dig at former President George W. Bush, a State Department spokesman compared President Obama's Nobel Peace Prize to the flying footwear his predecessor faced in Iraq.

"From our standpoint, you know, we think that this gives us a sense of momentum … when the United States has accolades tossed its way, rather than shoes," State Department spokesman P.J. Crowley told reporters on Friday

Real Classy of this White House, I hope that the Republican's attack the White House over this. If Mr. Obama doesn't fire thi sperson by the end of the weekend then his true colors will be shown, and the Republicans should take the glove's off and go into attack mode.
That was hilarious. I love it.
It's time for a revolution in our country. Not a revolution forged with guns and bombs but a revolution forged of compassion and altruism. A revolution that extends a hand to those who don't have and who cannot. A revolution that makes Health Care available to all those in the US.

As for your other question no former presidents aren't off limits to you and I but they are off limits for the present sitting White House. Never have I heard any sitting White House make such comments about Former Presidents. Yes they have made comments about their policy's but never a direct attack or comment. That is off limits and this person needs to be fired on the spot.
If some one calls you a racist for being critical, then call them on it. Attacking people who have not called you a racist because others have is not going to work real well though.

I guess one can find that funny. I was not ammused when the poor Bush had shoes thrown at him by that unstable Iraqian.

Wheteher or not I agrred with the Bush like him or not I do not like a pesident of my country being treated like garbage poorly by some deranged foreigner.

Furthermore the shoes indicent was a slap att al Americans.
Only we American have the right to treat Bush with caustion or disdain.

Are you telling me that if someone came into your place of employment and threw shoes at someone, and that someone then no longer works there, but his replacement was given an award, you couldn't make a joke about his predecessor?

I fail to see what is so crass about this joke.

I don't think it was a big deal, if a bit childish.

However, I would invite everyone to remember this thread the next time Joe Wilson is invoked. One has to think that having shoes thrown at the President is a bit more of an indignity than having "you lie!" shouted, so if it's in-bounds to joke about the shoes . . .

"There are plenty of critics in the arena. He [Obama] deserves my silence."

    Bush said something else too:

"I love my country a lot more than I love politics. I think it is essential that he be helped in office."

    Yea, Bush totally deserved that...

Please look up my comments on Joe Wilson and find out how consistent or not I am.

I would argue that the moral standing of the United States in the world has greatly improved since President Obama has taken office & is approaching foreign policy with less swagger than his predecessor.
I believe that was a factor in his winning the NPP & can only be helpful in adding to our safety by creating fewer anti-American haters in the world.
