Silvio Berlusconi loses immunity from prosecution

The ruling left the 73-year-old billionaire premier facing two criminal trials and a corruption investigation which had been frozen when he introduced the law in one of the first acts after re-election last year.

The Constitutional Court’s decision, which came after two days of deliberations, immediately increased pressure on Mr Berlusconi to resign and hold an early election, and followed months of scandals over his private life, including allegations he slept with a high-class prostitute and surrounded himself with nubile showgirls and actresses.

I doubt he'll ever end up having to face any sort of a sentence, but any setback for Berlusconi is a welcome thing in my eyes. I still can't believe how well he can wrap some people around his finger and it saddens me that he's so popular, though it's fun to diss Berlusconi around my italian aunt just to see her reaction.
 
Berlusconi would be absolutely hilarious is he wasn't actually the leader of powerful country. He is like a real-life version of the stupid presidents you see in bad comedy movies.
