About an hour ago, the South Pacific was hit by two earthquakes, which came a few minutes apart. The first was 7.8, and the second one was 7.3. At this time, there is a tsunami warning for the entire South Pacific, which includes the Solomon Islands, along with Indonesia, eastern Australia, and Hawaii. Even the west coast of North America will probably get relatively small waves, due to its distance from the quakes.

Things could begin to get very dicey in a few hours. Please say a prayer for those living in the affected regions.

Article is here.

The Tales of the South Pacific are not good these days with cyclones, earthquakes, and tsunamis's running rampant in the area. Did Nostradamus predict cyclones, earthquakes, and tsunamis in the ring of fire ? Just asking ! Not saying that I would believe old Nostra so just asking ?

No he didn't, but the Bible did predict many earthquakes in diverse places towards the end of days.

On a serious vein there seems to be a period of higher frequency of siesmic activity in that region during the last few years. Wonder where there is a site with that type of info would exist. You know a shake rattle roll wave.com or something.

Is that in revelations ? I have not read the Old Book in a long time. But there has to be an online site if it's not covered in the fog of the 2012 gloom crowd.

We had an old friend of the family uncle type guuy who used to say God is pissed when it thundered so maybe God is pissed at the South Pacific for some reason. I would have thought that the Big Guy would take out California since they must have pissed him off pretty bad by now.

Old book meaning the Bible, or old book meaning the Old Testament?

“there will be great earthquakes, and in various places plagues and famines; and there will be terrors and great signs from heaven….There will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.” (Luke 21:11,25,26)

The tsunami warning was canceled soon after being issued.

There are essentially 2 kinds of earthquakes:

1) A quake caused by the horizontal movement of 2 plates against each other.

2) A quake in which one plate is suddenly uplifted.

It is this second one which causes large tsunamis. There is also no way to tell, at this time, which kind of quake is happening. The effects of either quake will be the same, in terms of strength, but the effect of one kind of quake is quite different from the other, in regard to its potential to create a tsunami.

In the end, it is better to be safe than sorry, and I am glad that this was not an event in which a plate was uplifted.

More on the South Pacific quakes here.
