Obama's Gitmo blame game

...So Gitmo is still open eh? Where's that hope and change we were promised. Oh yeah....we were lied to....again.

Slowly...but surely...everyone comes to realize the truth and reality here.....Gitmo is an absolute stroke of genius. It answers EVERY question Obama wants to spend millions to answer. It removes these Cats off the battlefields, it prevents any attempt at rescue, it allows for tribunals, we can jail them for life or exterminate if appropriate. It's perfect.

Leave them there!

Greg Craig, the top in-house lawyer for President Barack Obama, is getting the blame for botching the strategy to shut down Guantanamo Bay prison by January — so much so that he’s expected to leave the White House in short order.

But sources familiar with the process believe Craig is being set-up as the fall guy and say the blame for missing the deadline extends well beyond him.

Instead, it was a widespread breakdown on the political, legislative, policy and planning fronts that contributed to what is shaping up as one of Obama’s most high-profile setbacks, these people say.

The White House misread the congressional mood – as it found out abruptly in May, when the Senate voted 90-6 against funds for closing the base after Republicans stoked fears about bringing prisoners to the U.S. The House also went on record last week opposing bringing Gitmo detainees here.

The White House misread the public mood – as roughly half of Americans surveyed say they disagree with Obama’s approach. A strong element of NIMBY-ism permeates those results, as Americans say they don’t want the prisoners in their backyards.
Its obviously the GOP's fault.

Yeah why doesn't he use his black magic to close it down?

Oh you might want to watch those comment who know's one of the many Mr. Obama lover's will come on here and call you a bigot or racist. :2wave::doh:mrgreen:

Did anyone really think dear leader was going to start importing terrorists en mass to the US from Gitmo?

Despite the rhetoric of the campaign perspective changes when they begin receiving presidential briefings and become somewhat informed.

He must be glad he has so many people that can be tossed under the bus.

I wonder if they have titles under Presidential Aid (Disposable) like razor blades.

I thought he signed an executive order that it must be closed by January 2010? Closing GITMO isn't like the last person to leave at 5pm just turns the light off, locks the door, and no one comes back to work the next day.

In my opinion Gitmo shouldn't be closed. Why close Gitmo just to open another facility to house the same type of prisoners? Because Gitmo isn't secret any more and a new facility will be?

They should just be called "redshirts." It would cover a multitude of bases.

Because Obama wants to grant alien unlawful combatants full Constitutional protections in order to set them free on the technicality of denial of a speedy trial.

All Czars should be named Kenny. Just in case.

I loved this skit; but just to show how in-the-tank and absurd the maintream media is, they did a FACT check on SLN. You just can't make this crap up folks.

:rofl

Don't Laugh, CNN Reports
The network "fact checks" a "Saturday Night Live" sketch. Seriously!
By JAMES TARANTO WSJ

If you don't think "Saturday Night Live" is funny anymore, try watching CNN. Those guys are hilarious. Yesterday on Wolf Blitzer's "Situation Room," the network "fact checked" an SNL skit. No joke! The transcript is here, video is here. "How much truth is behind all the laughs?" Blitzer intoned as he teased the upcoming segment. "Stand by for our reality check."

The skit, which you can view here, features one of the "SNL" guys imitating President Obama. "When you look at my record, it's very clear what I have done so far. And that is nothing," he says. "Almost one year and nothing to show for it. You don't believe me? You think I'm making it up? Take a look at this checklist." He then rehearses a series of campaign promises--closing Guantanamo, improving Afghanistan, taking over the health-care system and so on--and declares all of them undone.

CNN interviews Bill Adair of the St. Petersburg Times's PolitiFact, one of those supposedly nonpartisan fact-checking outfits, which actually published a "study" of the "SNL" skit earlier yesterday. Adair says:

I think "SNL" tended to kind of gloss over what is a--a fair amount of progress by this administration, about sending two additional brigades to Afghanistan. We rated that had a promise kept. On Iraq, "Saturday Night Live" said not done and, of course, that's true, they're not done. But they hadn't promised to be done by now.

Reporter Kareen Wynter adds: "As for health care, Adair says 'SNL' also got it wrong, since that legislation is still stalled in Congress." Which means it has been done? Well, whatever. "But Adair says the sketch did get some things right, like Guantanamo Bay. PolitiFact says the president has fallen short on that promise."

Because Obama wants to grant alien unlawful combatants full Constitutional protections in order to set them free on the technicality of denial of a speedy trial.

Yes I am sure that is his underlying plan.

Exterminate?

Without a trial?

Didn't Hitler try to do that to the Jews?

You really have to wonder where their heads are.
You would think someone at CNN has a modicum of brain power and would have nixed the idea in a NY Minute...
Seems not.
They're still fully committed propagandists for Dear Leader.

I guess that's why FOXNEWS has better ratings at 3am than CNN has at 8pm... prime time... LOL.

What kind of racist :rofl

The kind that uses the word black or synonyms for it in any place remotely close to President Obama. In short....the worst kind!

(heheh, I'm actually just kidding)

How dare anyone call down a politician for "saying ANYTHING to get elected"? It is the very foundation of this (once) great nation.
