This really is the most absurd argument in politics, where is the plan of the party in the minority?

But we're talking about the GOP, not me.

Really? You don't concede that some kind of reform is necessary? None at all? Our health care system is perfect as it is?

That is not true. If there are no alternatives that solve Problem X without creating additional problems, then it doesn't make sense to criticize a specific proposal for not solving Problem X. Policies do not occur in a vacuum.

What, that to criticize someone's plan, you need to have an alternative of yoru own? Yes, that is rather absurd.

You can certainly tell someone how they are wriong w/o having to come up with an alternative to their idea.

-Our plan to go to Mars is this!
Your plan is flawed becaue of X Y and Z
    -Oh yeah? Whats YOUR plan?
Why do I need a plan to go to Mars to show you how your plan to go to Mars is flawed?

It does if the plan is flawed.
The flaws exist, regrdless of any alternative to them, and so, it is perfectly legitimate to point out those flaws.

No republican is going to ask their staff to spend hours, days, months on a bill that will be rejected in two seconds on the floor.

    The argument is absurd....

Stupid people fall for this, that is all.

It depends...are you criticizing the Mars mission on technological grounds or political grounds? You are correct that you wouldn't need an alternative to criticize the plan from a technological aspect; either it works or it doesn't.

If you're criticizing it from a political aspect from it, your analogy is flawed. You wouldn't need an alternative Mars plan if and only if you aren't interested in going to Mars. If you ARE interested in going to Mars, then you would need to present a plan that you believe will work. Most of the Republicans in Congress at least claim to care about the problems facing our health care system: Lack of access, uncontrolled inflation, and economic inefficiencies. If they acknowledge that these things are problems, then yes, they do need a plan to solve them.

It's legitimate to point them out, but they aren't a legitimate criticism of the plan if none of the alternatives solve that problem.

Re: Dems taunt GOP: Where's your health care plan?

Yeah, I'm really tired of the Republicans working against the best interests of the American people. We don't pay them to stall crap while people die. I mean, proposing amendments that talk about it only applying to states that start with "U" and crap is absurd and obviously a tactic to stall. We don't pay them to do this, we pay them to work and get it done. The Republicans have acted shamefully throughout this whole process.
It's time for a revolution in our country. Not a revolution forged with guns and bombs but a revolution forged of compassion and altruism. A revolution that extends a hand to those who don't have and who cannot. A revolution that makes Health Care available to all those in the US.

No healthcare system on earth is perfect, nor will ever be. Just because a system has flaws doesn't mean it needs to be fixed...incessantly--no one (least of all a huge bureaucracy) can fix everything to perfection, and many people believe that more often than not the "fixing" is actually making things worse.

There will always be pleas for more reform... a line has to be drawn somewhere. Not every problem can be "reformed" out of existence. More often than not, the opposite happens--reforms just create new (sometimes bigger) problems.
