I'm a healthcare worker and I don't get the flu vaccine, and I never get the flu. I don't agree with getting the flu vaccine for myself. I choose to maintain my health through holistic means.

Well, "holistic means" don't prevent viruses. And while YOU may not get sick very often if you happened to have a strong immune system, you are the exception to the rule. It is dangerous to have health care workers contracting infectious diseases from their patients, then passing it on to other patients. This is a particularly bad way to contract swine flu, because many of the patients would already be sick from something else and thus more likely to have serious complications.

The sick healthcare worker absolutely has a responsibility to stay home while sick.

I hope the useless ANA gets off their paddyasses and fights this tooth and nail. Sadly, I seriously doubt they will because they are worthless bloodsuckers who don't really give a crap about nurses except as dues payers.

I think more people will die in hospitals from septic infections than anything else.

No flu vaccine is 100%, and the H1N1 vaccine was really pushed through trials way too efficiently for my liking. I can just smell the corporate stink behind this law, and the dollars rolling in.

However, I don't have any problem with the state forcing medical personnel who ARE around sick people to get the vaccine. It's a public health hazard for them NOT to get it.
It's new though and thus experimental to a point. I don't blame some folks for not wanting it. It's not a health hazard for them NOT to get it. Even if every dr. and nurse in a hospital was vaccinated the hospitals will always still be chuck full of folks who aren't.

    They should get a choice.

But I agree that a blanket rule, such as making nutritionists get vaccinated, is ridiculous.
The same can be said for most any communicable disease that is spread the same way. Patients are always at risk. Hospitals are infectious locations.

It's not an accident when people who eat healthy, exercise, and get enough rest have healthier lives and stronger immune systems. It is a direct result of a healthy lifestyle. Even conventional medicine acknowledges this as a proven cause and effect fact.

I agree, but most flu viruses have an incubation period of at least a day or so. Or the symptoms are mild enough at first that you don't realize it's the flu right away. They would be infecting other patients during this time.

That's true, and I would likely feel the same way about any other pandemic.
