We spend tons of money on useless crap that's never going to go anywhere. I mean, do people really think that we're going to establish crap on the moon? Why? There's very little benefit compared to the cost to create and maintain. And for the love of god, if you want to know how much water is in the soil would you crash something into it and see what is there. As far as I understand it, a measurement has been made and I'm sure if not, there's a form of spectroscopy that could do it without crashing something into the moon and analyzing the dust.

There's no real point to this, it's stupid. And talloulou is right in that this should really be front page sort of stuff here.
You know the time is right to take control, we gotta take offense against the status quo

I find that video creepy. If they were praying for God to help Obama or to keep Obama safe, that is one thing. Praying to Obama as if he were God is wrong. Obama is a human, just like the rest of us.

So you don't think it's weird at all that most folks never heard of LCROSS? That the media has absolutely failed in covering it despite the ever nearing impact date?

As far as potential negatives there are all kinds of things to think about. What if China, North Korea, or France up and decided to explode a bit of the moon? Weaponizing space? We don't f-ing own the moon. We have no property rights. What if the explosion contaminates the water they're looking for? What if it causes a moon quake? They're targeting polar craters and intend on making an explosion large enough to be seen with amateur telescopes here on Earth! I'm all about putting folks on the moon, colonizing space, etc. I'm just not sure if we should go into full on destructive mode before we even put up a hut.

It's a minor program. We have not heard of hundreds of minor programs.

The LCROSS mission is silent for the very reason that it's unnecessary and the methods are controversial. The debris analysis could reveal other things though, not just water. I'm just curious to know what side of the moon they'll be doing this on... I'm assuming the visible side.

Plus India has already confirmed presence of water on the moon.

Which also, weirdly, is a complete NON NEWS story here in the US.

Is it possible that righties do these things and post them to try to make liberals look bad?
The Makeout Hobo is real, and does indeed travel around the country in his van and make out with ladies... If you meet the Makeout Hobo, it is customary to greet him with a shot of whiskey and a high five (if you are a dude) or passionate makeouts (if you are a lady).

Lefties need no help from anyone to look bad.

We are going to smash a rocket into a celestial body.

What part of that is minor?

It's historical. It's a first. It has NEVER been done before. You can go out and buy an amateur telescope and see the plume from the explosion.

It should be huge news. It's indefensible that it is not being discussed by the media.

Hell Obama should be delivering a Presidential address on it as far as I'm concerned.
