NEW YORK — New York's iconic Empire State Building will light up red and yellow Wednesday in honor of the 60th anniversary of communist China.
The Chinese consul, Peng Keyu, and other officials will take part in the lighting ceremony which will bathe the skyscraper in the colors of the People's Republic until Thursday, Empire State Building representatives said in a statement.
The upper sections of the building are regularly illuminated to mark special occasions, ranging from all blue to mark "Old Blue Eyes" Frank Sinatra's death in 1998 to green for the annual Saint Patrick's Day.

I haven't understood why we've tried to be so buddy buddy with commies like China. Communism is horrible, and the Chinese government is horrible. We should deal with them in a cordial manner as demanded by diplomacy and nothing else. We shouldn't do anything to celebrate the existence of commie governments.
 
I can't even begin to imagine what the Empire State Building Corporation is thinking. Sure, maybe they'll get some goodwill with Chinese clients, but they're also offending a lot of Americans. An incredibly stupid idea.

Alot of Chinese are American citizens and live in NYC.
 
Can anyone confirm if this is a real news story? AFB or whatever the site is? What is that?

Anyway, it probably is real... sigh. I don't get why we why we would do this.. why now? :shock:

This is from the Empire State Building's website and shows the lighting schedule and the listed occasion.

The reason given is "60th Anniversary of the People’s Republic of China," so I imagine it is a real story.

Because it also resulted in a huge cheap labor force which American corporations can use to manufacture products at a greatly reduced cost, which in turn will allow those of us who have been forced to take lower-paying jobs to continue to line the pockets of our post-industrial masters.

Until we as a nation, in general, stop buying cheap crap from China, we have no right to throw stones at the people who run the Empire State Building, because we've all sold out.

So, that is no reason to celebrate Communism. Are they going to shine red lights for the filthy Russian Bolshevik October Revolution ?

Hell why not light up a Swastika on Hitler's birthday since they seem to like to to celebrate scum. WTF is the diference Commies, Nazi's, Russians ;;; scum is scum !!!
