Most school teachers are Libbos, though. That's the flaw in your logic.

This is not debatable, this is about government jobs, unions, and control, always has been.

Well, let me back track, I wasn't talking specifically about Texas. I was talking about American schools in general.

Yes, this is true. Would be an interesting topic for a more in depth thread. The problem of course is that it is hard to enforce, and hard to force kids to take an interest in things other than the opposite sex.

It's not really worth the effort to teach them it, most don't remember after they graduate anyway.
I was discovering that life just simply isn't fair and bask in the unsung glory of knowing that each obstacle overcome along the way only adds to the satisfaction in the end. Nothing great, after all, was ever accomplished by anyone sulking in his or her misery.

The Texas part is important for this. Texas is one of the largest markets for school books, so textbook writers design textbooks for the nation based on the guidelines they get from Texas. That is why this is such a large deal.

Just doing my part, my friend, and we can always hope someone will hear our words, and come to our church of ideas, and then be happy there.

If we would stop coddling them from kindergarten and start holding them responsible for their behavior and successes and failures, I don't see where it would be much of a problem.

But the issue isn't just the kids...it's systemic. Unions keep unqualified and apathetic teachers in schools teaching kids that only come to school to be baby sat because parents are unqualified to be parents and apathetic toward their kids' educations and administrators who are apathetic to anything but getting funding for their districts. And school boards like the ones in Texas that are apathetic to anything but raising their political profiles. And so kids get passed on from grade to grade without being equipped for the next one and next thing you know, you've got a full on dumbass walking across the stage in a cap and gown without sense enough to manage a checkbook or write a letter properly.

    It's really sad.
