You might check into this a bit. What is the predominant political party in Texas? Who is ensuring the history and social study books are as they want them, liberals or conservatives? Which political philosophy is more likely to create "revisionist history"? Hint: the last one is a kinda trick question.

No, this is the first I have actually heard of this. I have heard about the whole creationist/ID crap, but that is somewhat different. As I now understand it, it is not a new issue, but I did not know about, and was thence not worried.

Personally, I would rather kids learned how the government worked, and not worry much about the label attached.

Jerry called some one else a "kook". I admit it, I laughed out loud in real life.

Actually the text book writers white wash the history books quite often.

The state law makers may quibble over some irrelevant details but if you crack open one of the text books, they can be quite revealing as to what they consider factual history to be.

Most of it isn't even put into context either.
I was discovering that life just simply isn't fair and bask in the unsung glory of knowing that each obstacle overcome along the way only adds to the satisfaction in the end. Nothing great, after all, was ever accomplished by anyone sulking in his or her misery.

Look up "revisionist history" and, even better, "post-revisionist history".
Been going on for a long time.

Learning should not be confined to an hour a day in class. If kids were actually given real instruction in class and reinforced it with reading and homework, we might not have so many little dumbasses graduating now.

Todays youth could be taught in front of a laptop, with the brightest minds available, and we could save billions each year!

This is not debatable, this is about government jobs, unions, and control, always has been.
