Tens of thousands attend broad protest of government in nation's capital

The DC police did release one very significant figure though...

For an "angry mob" of that size, they were happy to report that there were a grand total of "0" arrests. That's right, not one arrest took place at this event, which is a testament to the class of people that attended this protest, versus the class of people who have attended protests there in the past.

.

Now that is awesome.

Right wing says over 2 million in some cases, left wings smallest estimate of 70-80 thousand. I have searched the sources, and would fell safe saying the number was around 1 million. We still have over 3 years of Obama, and I'm hoping to see more of this. The next turnout will be MUCH larger.

I saw many different interviews with folks that attended. The thing I noticed, is that they all seemed to believe that this was only the beginning of the movement, not the grand finale. If that's true, it's going to be a long four years for Obama and his ever loyal main stream media.

Um, not so much. That's not left-wing, that's objective media sources that are not rw or lw blogs, including, btw, Fox News.

The continued lying by the right re: attendance figures, and the magnitude of the lies, is a sideshow in and of itself. As this blog post points out, a lie has to be believable ;) and a 53-inch long penis isn't believable!!

Size Matters; So Do Lies

... But yesterday, someone told a real whopper. ABC News, citing the DC fire department, reported that between 60,000 and 70,000 people had attended the tea party rally at the Capitol. By the time this figure reached Michelle Malkin, however, it had been blown up to 2,000,000. There is a big difference, obviously, between 70,000 and 2,000,000. That's not a twofold or threefold exaggeration -- it's roughly a thirtyfold exaggeration.

The way this false estimate came into being is relatively simple: Matt Kibbe, the president of FreedomWorks, lied, claiming that ABC News had reported numbers of between 1.0 and 1.5 million when they never did anything of the sort. A few tweets later, the numbers had been exaggerated still further to 2 million. Kibbe wasn't "in error", as Malkin gently puts it. He lied. He did the equivalent of telling people that his penis is 53 inches long.

IA, that is awesome!

Our new prez wants to, "change", our country. Us and those like us are trying to keep that from happening. There's nothing about our country that needs to be changed. There are a few things that need to be fixed, but overall, this is the best country in the history of the world and should stay just as it is.

I guess you guys missed the november elections?

... or you just don't like the results? :doh

I believe eight years ago the proper response was "He won. Get over it."

Inaugural crowd size reportedly D.C. record - The Boston Globe

WASHINGTON - The National Park Service says it will rely on a media report that says 1.8 million people attended President Obama's inauguration.

David Barna, a Park Service spokesman, said the agency did not conduct its own count. Instead, it will use a Washington Post account that said 1.8 million people gathered on the US Capitol grounds, National Mall, and parade route.

"It is a record," Barna said. "We believe it is the largest event held in Washington, D.C., ever."
It looks like most conservative blogs have decided to use a National Park Service quote describing the crowds at President Obama's inauguration rather than the tea party protests. Between this and using a picture from a protest that occurred over a decade ago as evidence of crowds stretching to the Washington Monument, they're not showing too much trustworthiness.

I don't really understand it though. The protests were impressive enough as it were that their numbers didn't need to be inflated.

Oh, okay, Mr. “Moderate”, let’s take a look at the profound statement from which our disagreement arose, shall we?
I see you have chosen to be a one-line lip monkey. :)

Basically, you had nothing intelligent to say and I merely pointed it out. Your reference to "debate" merely demonstrates your ignorance of the term, as no intelligent exercise thereof could come about as a consequence of this infantile diatribe.
Other than trying to dazzle someone with BS you haven't offered any style of debate other than school-yard banter which I find mildly amusing, but I think it's run it's course. I can see that you have no intention of having a civil discussion about the rally, and quite frankly I've come to the conclusion your style of discourse is boring as hell, not to mention pointless.

Look how many there are! They MUST be right too!

yes, look at all those southern democrats.

Oh, tell me then.. where were the masses of right wing protesters descending on Washington during the Bush years protesting the massive debt he was pushing on the country? And dont use the excuse that this was a "healthcare" protest because everyone knows that it was only part of the issue that these people were protesting...
The Republicans didn't lose for nothing last year, who do you think GAVE Obama the presidency by inaction.

better than the treasonous circle jerk the left did during the war.

(two can play silly games like this.... ;) )
They probably had CNN reporters out there asking protesters to show off their Bibles and guns.

10's of thousands, as opposed to the 930k freedomworks claimed. all seem to be white, btw. sometimes i wonder what they are really protesting, what with the all the lovely signs they displayed.

You racists need to cut this crap out. It's getting rather pathetic. So the fvck what if you see white people...

Seriously, some of you liberals and your asinine charges of racism is sick.

Hey let's be fair! They would of had a million but most of the "Million Moron March" drove to Washington state by mistake.

Anyway CNN finally got one right:

YouTube - CNN: There Is A "Dark Fringe" To These Tea Party Events

at 1:41 he claims "we saw people wearing handguns from time to time"...

I stopped there, this man is a liar, and full of ****, but you go ahead and use the words of an obvious liar, as a backdrop for your idiotic insults.... It's not the tea party people who look the fool.

If you want to use the term "misguided" or "idiot" I would turn towards those who are calling a legally elected President a NAZI, COMMUNIST, foereigner, homosexual, devil, Muslin, and countless other falacious and dispicably wrong terms. Why don't you read the signs that a lot of those so called "patriots" were carrying and maybe explain to the sign carrying people what the words mean becasue I have a feeling that 80% of the ones using the term "soclalism" do not even know what that means.

Bush was never called most of these things.

The majority of these people were moblized by Fox News so I would hardly call them "lifeblod of America" more like sheeple.

This is a lie.

Bush was never called most of these things.

This is a lie.

That sounds like a testament to the behavior of the Bush haters, who, according to you, didn't stoop to the same lows that the Obama haters are doing. lol

If you can show me ONE single assertion of fact backed up with credible evidence in your post then I will leave DP forever.

:2wave:

Until you do this your post will be viewed as nothing more than an infantile diatribe utterly devoid of substance and reason.

Thanks for playing, Mr. "Moderate"...

According to me?

I see a pendelum swing, you all acting outraged over it, is rather humerous.

I do not think it really matters who is in office anymore. Both main parties are out of touch with what the average American really wants. People are sick of the politics as usual that has run the country into the ground. Both parties are guilty of this. We want them to stop trying to one up each other and get on with the business of actually governing the country. Something that they are not going to do. Instead they will keep trying to derail each others policies whether they are good or bad so in the next election cycle they can accuse the major power party at the time of being incompetent. This happened when the GOP had both houses and the White House and is now happening again with the Dems in control.

Yea, TW, that's what I thought.

See you next time, Mr. "Moderate"...

Good catch! That's the same quote rw blogs are attributing to 'Dan Bana' and Saturday's Teaparty march!
