Tens of thousands attend broad protest of government in nation's capital

Well this is from Infowar.com.

National Park Service Admits 9/12 Demo Largest On Record

a spokesman for the National Park Service, Dan Bana, is quoted as saying “It is a record…. We believe it is the largest event held in Washington, D.C., ever.”

The past largest march was Dr. Kings march which was around 1.8 Million.

Also one other item I would like to point out that doesn't get reported but this was a three day event, now how does this effect the actual number's I'm not sure.

Oh and few other items to throw in how the Park Service come's up with the numbers, they use all Police/Fire and Emegancy Numbers along with Aerial Shots taken by the USAF and NSC/NSA to show crowd size.

If this American Thinker article is quoting a NPS spokesman, then they are lying. The National Park Service does not issue crowd size estimates:

"Please remember that the United States Park Police no longer provide crowd estimates."
Search Results - National Park Service: "crowd estimates"

The national park service estimated the crowd at 60k, not even close to being the largest in US history. Actually , quite a small number.

The NPS didn't estimate 60K, they don't issue crowd estimates. That number came from an ABC report, which said 60K - 70K attended.

You are being very disingenuous here, everyone knows Berkely had an organized rally in the city against the war, everyone knows Code Pink organizes protests around the country, and the Million Man/Mom March were organized by the black reverends and the group Million Moms(which is why they called it the million mom march;)).

No they in fact weren't, a quick look at the groups mission statements and who they take contributions from told me the opposite, and, they are funded specifically to organize protests.

No, LaMid, YOU are being very disingenuous here. People who attended rallies for the group you support MUST be grassroots, people who attended rallies you don't support MUST be professional activists.

It's ridiculous. None of the groups you cited have that many members.

If you want people to treat 'your' protest people as 'real' Americans, then please extend the same courtesy to those who attend protests you don't support. Or back up your claims to the contrary.

You consider lame insults directed at thousands of protestors to be a form of debate? Please, sir, you do the term an injustice.
Any so-called insult that I might have made in my previous posts were accompanied by relevant content pointing out why I felt that way. Other than your obvious dislike of my choice of comments you have yet to address any of the points I made in my previous post other than to make snide remarks that for the most part aren't even relevant to this discussion. That's a tactic that could very well fall under the category of being lame, perhaps even more so than what you are accusing me of.

Anyway, Mr. "Moderate",
I suggest you give up being an ass about my political ideology. Your attempt at making this about me and not my comments on this rally is lame.

perhaps you can explain your reflexive disgust of these protestors, since it apparently has nothing to do with your unremitting love of all things Obama...
I don't recall mentioning these protesters disgust me. You might want to try the quote feature instead of ad-libbing what I have said, just for accuracy sake.

I haven't made enough posts on this forum on Obama's behalf for you to make that claim. You don't know what you are talking about, other than relying on my support for Obama that I have stated since being here as a means to launch more partisan BS in my direction. Give up trying to make this discussion about me instead of the rally. You aren't very good at it. :)

10's of thousands, as opposed to the 930k freedomworks claimed. all seem to be white, btw. sometimes i wonder what they are really protesting, what with the all the lovely signs they displayed.

Hey let's be fair! They would of had a million but most of the "Million Moron March" drove to Washington state by mistake.

Anyway CNN finally got one right:

You might call yourself moderate, but your demeaning and misguided term of "teabagger" shows your ignorance of the truth! These decent people are more numerous than you think. They are not wingnuts, rather, they are the lifeblod of America.

Just keep your head in the sand, you useful idiot!

If you want to use the term "misguided" or "idiot" I would turn towards those who are calling a legally elected President a NAZI, COMMUNIST, foereigner, homosexual, devil, Muslin, and countless other falacious and dispicably wrong terms. Why don't you read the signs that a lot of those so called "patriots" were carrying and maybe explain to the sign carrying people what the words mean becasue I have a feeling that 80% of the ones using the term "soclalism" do not even know what that means.

The majority of these people were moblized by Fox News so I would hardly call them "lifeblod of America" more like sheeple.

Key mistake, you are attempting to use facts in an argument that puts the reality back into where stalini.....er....I mean liberalism stands.
You know Disneydude won't let you get away with such a weak debate tactic as using facts.

Wrong. The official estimate was 60k. Look at the overhead photos. Only a moron would try to argue that the crowd was even a fraction of some of the marches that have taken place.
Some right-wing blogs are trying to inflate the numbers to avoid the embarassing turn-out.

60k is still a significant number. But obviously not what the promoters had hoped for.

Wrong the official Spokeperson from the Aprk Service said it was the largest March in DC History oh an dif you like you can go and look at the USAF Sat. Images that the Park Service use everyday, the same one's that they used on Sat.

If these protestors want to "take our country back" I would like to now who took their country away and where was it taken to ?

BTW this is my country also and I did not know that it was missing!!

Their very existence is an affront to honesty and is built on a mountain of ignorance and hypocrisy. What's not to be disgusted about?

Lots of claims...but no proof. Seems to be a theme amongst you and your leftist ilk.

Oh, okay, Mr. “Moderate”, let’s take a look at the profound statement from which our disagreement arose, shall we?

I don't think much about it at all really, other than regarding their agenda as being on the same level as the teabaggers.

Personal opinion (italicized), speculation (emboldened), and ad hominem (underlined).

Both groups seem to have too many wingnuts involved in their activities to be taken seriously enough to actually have an impact on government policies.

Speculation (emboldened) and ad hominem (underlined).

From what I can see it makes for a good photo-op and extra work for the grounds crew, but I doubt it represents much more than a flock of sheep doing the bidding of organized special interest groups like ALL.

Non-sequitur (italicized), speculation (emboldened), and ad hominem (underlined).

Basically, you had nothing intelligent to say and I merely pointed it out. Your reference to "debate" merely demonstrates your ignorance of the term, as no intelligent exercise thereof could come about as a consequence of this infantile diatribe.

Our new prez wants to, "change", our country. Us and those like us are trying to keep that from happening. There's nothing about our country that needs to be changed. There are a few things that need to be fixed, but overall, this is the best country in the history of the world and should stay just as it is.

It appears as though there were a million people at Saturdays protest... That is, if you believe the Obama people.

When you can find a non far right wing source for those numbers, I will believe them.

Regardless of what the actual numbers were, that was a big ass turn out.

Either the Obama inauguration numbers and the protest numbers were false, or they were both right... Which side are you taking here?

And you are correct apdst... That was one hell of a turn out. Especially when you factor in the ten's of thousands of people that turned out at the protests at all the other cities besides DC.

It's obviously bad news for the Libbos. We can't expect them to just roll over an accept that the nation is more right than left. They actually thought otherwise a few months ago.

The numbers come from Obama's own metrics...

So far we have had photos from other events used to exaggerate the numbers, plus flat out lying about the numbers. Until some one remotely close to unbiased suggests a number, I am not buying it.

City officials said that around 70,000 people showed up. I don't care what anyone says, that's a big ass crowd.

Yes, it is. I think the 70k that the Fire Department estimated is on the low side even.

Still a scary amount of people for the Dems. When's the last time that this many folks showed up just to protest the sitting Congress and the President?
