Rep. Wilson Outburst Leads Senate Dems to Close Loophole in Health Reform Bill

Re: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/09/10/rep-wilson-outburst-leads-senate-dems-

So, the 1st Amendment can be ruled un-constitutional?

Man, I'm learnin' some stuff in this thread!

You were answered up above. Again you don't seem to understand the constitution anymore than scorpion does

You're greatly mistaken, sir.

Again, how many times have Democrat Congress members called GWB a liar in public? How many times were false accusations of crimes made by Democrat Congress members against GWB? How many Congess members falsely accused GWB of orchestrating 9/11?

Did they do it during a Joint Session of Congress while the President was speaking?

Do you know the difference between in public and while the president is making a speech in Congress?

Oh good lord. You really have absolutely no idea how our government operates. Prohibition wasn't ruled unconstitutional, that's why Congress had to PASS AN AMENDMENT repealing it. I hope you are not considering a career in law. :doh

By that logic, an amendment could be passed repealing the 1st Amendment.

You tell me how many members of congress accused GWB of orchestrating 9/11? Do you have any names?

Except that it would never happen. Currently any state law abridging the 1st amendment would be unconstitutional. If someday enough states sign on and repeal the 1st amendment then anything against the repeal would be unconstitutional

The consitution says the House can makes its own rules, they made a rule, so now you have to follow it, it's quite simple.

Yes they can make there own rules up but they can't go against the Bill of Rights and for the record folks this isn't the first time a President has been heckled by a member of Congress.

YES! Finally you understand! A constitutional amendment can be passed repealing the 1st amendment, or any other part of the Constitution! That's what a constitutional amendment does: It AMENDS the CONSTITUTION.

The 18th Amendment was repealed on the grounds that it was un-constitutional. *booya*

Youre saying the constitution is unconstitutional. Its no wonder you misinterpreted Obama's speech last night accusing him of high treason for saying he wont waste anymore time on people who won't work to improve the bill and calling out those who make up lies about the bill

Your second point is irrelevant, do two wrongs make a right? Come on, use that stuff you learned in first grade. Anyway, it's a gaurenteed right that the house can make whatever rules they want to.

The 1st amendment does not grant the right to slander and libel.

Ye sit does I suggest you try to understand that Grants Freedom of Speech no where doe sit define what Speech is.

Cynthia McKinney.

No. I'm not mistaken. Democrats didn't cross the line that was crossed last night. But remember you are the one defending the behavior of Joe Wilson. Therefore, listing behavior that you think is comparable and abhorrent doesn't really help your case. So you are saying Joe Wilson is on par with those that accused GWB of orchestrating 9/11? (and you are calling this behavior heroic?)

The 18th was repealed on the grounds that people wanted to drink and prohibition was causing too many problems with organized crime.

You really shoud read up on some supreme court cases because you can't committ slander or libel according to the supreme court. Come back when you know what you're talking about.

Cynthia McKinney.

Didn't you say members? There are more birthers in congress than there were "truthers"

Re: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/09/10/rep-wilson-outburst-leads-senate-dems-

Just offering my analysis not judgment. Liberal congress never crossed the lines that were crossed last night. However, I do appreciate that you are painting Joe Wilson's story as a sob story. Poor ol' hoot'n an a holler'n Joe Wilson. Just couldn't contain that all of that incivility.

Yes they did the night of feb 2 2005 the Democrates crossed that line not once but many times. Would you like to watch the Speech and count how many time they boo Mr. W Bush

Re: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/09/10/rep-wilson-outburst-leads-senate-dems-

Cynthia McKinney.

She didn't say he orchestrated it, she said he knew of it, there's a HUGE difference.

The rules don't specify that they only apply to joint sessions of Congress.

Not much of a difference, dude!...:rofl

Really care to cite me any of these case's I can use Slander all day long it's protect Speech and there is nothing that the Supreme Court can do about it.

As for Libel define it what you call it is something different then I would call it and totally different then what the Supreme Court would rule it.

I have honestly never heard someone argue a factually incorrect position with such conviction before. You are absolutely, unequivocally wrong about this.

Only the Supreme Court can declare things unconstitutional...and they can't declare parts of the Constitution itself unconstitutional, as that doesn't make any sense. Since the 18th amendment was part of the Constitution, it was not (and could not possibly be) found unconstitutional.

Constitutional amendments (such as the 21st amendment) are passed by state legislatures, not the Supreme Court. And in this particular case, Prohibition was not repealed because it was unconstitutional, it was repealed because people didn't want Prohibition anymore.

Honestly, this is 9th grade civics stuff. I'm not going to argue basic factual information with you. I'm right and you're wrong on this point, plain and simple.

Big difference between planning something and being warned about it and not stopping it.
