Last nights speech could not have gone better for Obama. His salesmanship, as usual, was spot on. It was his most substantive communication on health care. And Joe Wilson literally handed him a victory by his outrageous, petty and crude behaviour.

Wilson's behaviour couldn't have been better if it was scripted. The White House was looking for a foil, and I'm sure they are happy to see Wilson step up and volunteer.

To be sure, Wilson's comments themselves really don't matter. But of course, the wackiness of it, the conflict within it, and his "I'm sorry but the Republican leadership made me apologize, apology," is great theater.

The momentum has totally shifted towards Obama according to some polls taken after the speech. Now, I do not know if it will last, because as we all know per the Wilson comment, one small outburst, event, or comment can turn an entire effort into compost.

Joe Wilson said what everyone else already knows: PBO is lying through his teeth when he says that Obamacare won't cover illegals. Unless he plans on giving amnesty to 20 million illegals.

You have got to be kidding right? By the way, that fake poll was extremely weighted towards Democrats and Obama supporters than it was scientific. Hardly scientific by any stretch; but it is understandable when you see the mainstream media carrying water for this pathetic "post turtle" even to the farcical extent to write stories that the recession is over.

You just can't fabricate the level of denial, lies and distortions it takes to be Liberal these days.

CBS Poll: As is often the case in Presidential addresses, Americans who watched the speech tonight were more likely to be from the President’s political party – 38% were Democrats, 26% were Republicans and 36% were independents.

CNN of course won’t share the specifics of their poll because they know they would be a laughing stock like CBS who is at least willing to be honest they are carrying water for this pathetic joke of a Presidency and Administration of corrupt dimwitted thugs.

You just make stuff up, right? I mean, that's the only explanation

Not only did CNN share the specifics, but someone posted it here last night. The questions, the distribution of party affiliation of respondents, all of it.

And, the poll showed, that of those who watched -- support increased. :2wave:

No doubt plenty of citizens on the otherside see it differently. Considering that Joe Wilson's outburst is a precedent in modern times, many might think what would cause someone to burst out like that other than the statement by Obama must have been a huge lie or at least extremely contraversial. Secondly, it's more believeable that a congressman knows what's in the bill than the president.

Wallowing in self induced denial doesn't make it reality. But you go ahead and keep kidding yourself. :rofl

You can keep on trying to make this personal and try hard to inject me into the debate, but it will not work.

Personal jabs don't impress me, don't advance the discussion and certainly isn't original.

Of course, the above bolded statement is hogwash.

Don't try to make excuses for an outrageous breach of decorum, by arguing that, 'since it never happened before, it must be telling!'

I never said it was telling, I said some people might think it's telling.

Well, it's gotta be something along those lines, or PBO is lying when he says that Obamacare won't cover illegal aliens. There's no way that the most Liberal president in history is going to openly deny medical treatment to illegal aliens. It just ain't gonna happen.

Its not anything "along those lines."

That's your opinion, and you're entitled.

Then who exactly are you talking about?

One more thing, I could care less if I am "entitled" to an opinion or not.

Either it is an informed opinion, or it is not.

Well then, what is it? Nowhere in the bill does it specifically state that medical treatment will be denied to anyone who isn't an American citizen.

How are we supposed to believe that PBO isn't lying? Are we jut supposed to take his word for it?

You can deal with those issues by your lonesome.

This isn't the point of the thread.

This thread is about the political momentum after last nights speech.

I'm sorry. I didn't realize that the topic was PBO worship. Isn't there an appropriate forum for that?

Injecting personal jabs into the debate? Pathetic.

No one is stopping you from arguing against what I think is a momentum shift towards the White House.

Post the link here then. I went on the CNN website and there was no link like CBS had to the questions or percentages of respondents.

CNN admits that more Dems were watching than anyone else. So, of course there's going to be an increase in support. Therefore, the numbers are skewed.

The audience for the speech appears to be more Democratic than the U.S. population as a whole. Because of this, the results may favor Obama simply because more Democrats than Republicans tune into the speech. The poll surveyed the opinions of people who watched Wednesday night's speech, and does not reflect the views of all Americans.

I thought Perz Doofus, Dingy Harry, Bella Pelosi, and the rest of the DAs wanted to keep the focus on reforming healthcare. If that is so, how is
it advantageous to them for everyone to be talking about some idiot named Wilson.

The title of the thread indicates it is about Joe Wilson (whoever the hell he is) handing something to Prez Doofus. ;)
