Obama adviser Van Jones resigns amid controversy

His derogatory comment was a weak joke, and pretty mild. If we start forcing people to resign for calling the opposition "assholes" or making poor jokes about the opposition, we would have no one left in government.

Um the guys a bigot and a radical nutjob. He claims that whites are intentionally polluting blacks, he's a twoofer, and just an all around whackjob but that's par for the course with the current administration. What's next czars calling for compulsory female sterilization? Oh wait to late.

The "white polluter" didn't really bug me much...stupid, but not exceptionally so. The asshole thing bothered me not at all. The 9/11 truther thing would only bother me if he was trying to do something about it currently.

Appointing bigots doesn't bother you?

O.K. then. damn just damn

And who would set the criteria and standards

I think being a bigot, a conspiracy theorist, a self proclaimed communist might be some of the little criteria for disqualifying a person from a cabinet position in the White House. And you know other little things like (I don't know) calling for compulsory sterilization of women. But ya don't sweat the small stuff. :doh

Millions? You have some proof that that many people cared, because I see no evidence of it. Mostly, I just see the same loud people who complain about every single thing Obama does who are "bugged".

We understand that you can't grasp that bigotry is extremely offensive to most Americans.

Another man's job ruined by the right. He renounced these ideas before he was hired and the right decided to destroy his job, reputation, and livelihood. I have never seen anything like the political atmosphere the Right is creating right now. The Clinton years were ridiculous, but this is like that on steroids. What gives? Throw all rationality, facts, and sanity out the door because you lost? Argh. Whether in power or out of power, the right continues to make Americans look very very stupid.

aww poor little radical bigot got thrown under the bus, must have been that same right wing conspiracy who splooged on the blue dress and brought down building 7, you and twoofer Jones would become fast friends I'm sure.

Ok fine let's just call them unratified, unelected, and unaccountable an unaccountable shadow government currently filling its ranks with the most radical of the radicals. How's that?

If that were actually true. Several of the people Beck has on his list are cabinet level positions, were confirmed by the senate or had been confirmed in previous posts. Most of the czars have long resumes and are well qualified but hell its nothing like being the head of the Arabian Horse Association

i'm only reporting, here, i take no stand

potential political problems for the president persist

science "czar" john holdren, whom i believe has been confirmed by senate, co-authored a textbook in the 70's that advocated population control, even forced sterilization

John Holdren - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

regulatory "czar" cass sunstein, who's up for senate approval, i think, is an animal rights extremist, so much so he's called for a ban on hunting and he's argued for the rights of animals to sue humans

Cass Sunstein - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

neither is in any danger of going the van jones route, direct to the curb

which, for supporters of the president, may not be a good thing

we shall see

either way, it might be a bit difficult to deny the prez surrounds himself rather often with some real weirdos

I thought that the Holdren stuff had already been debunked.

That Sunstein stuff doesn't sound like grounds for disqualification but if it becomes common knowledge it'll be a big embarrassment for the administration.

Quite the opposite.

Doesn't it bother everyone, conservative or liberal, that Obama has 30+ appointed czars that do not have to be confimed by, report to, or answer to Congress in any way? Seems he's usurping the system to get people with is views in place.

Anyone saying 30+ sure as hell can't count. Quite a few of those on the list are cabinet level position which have been confirmed by the senate. Also several have served in posts where they were previously confirmed. How about you do your research on everyone on those lists

What part of "unratified, unelected, and unaccountable an unaccountable shadow government currently filling its ranks with the most radical of the radicals" is untrue?

Your statement; "Several of the people Beck has on his list are cabinet level positions, were confirmed by the senate" is patently false and I challenge you to support it with some FACTS.

The TRUTH is that by creating all these "Czar" positions, whose primary purpose is to circumvent Congressional oversight and create lucrative high paying jobs for political cronies, is a BAD idea and perhaps even unconstitutional.

I cannot fathom anyone defending this practice and watching the same people who railed about the Bush Administrations attempts to circumvent Constitutional processes while they desperately defend this practice reeks of irony.

Van Jones actions make him unfit to act as an adviser to the executive, and I am certainly glad he is gone. On the other hand, I don't like the attempts to use it promote Beck as a credible journalist. A single success does not change his constant failures. Hopefully Obama will get a clue about doing a little more research for his next czar pick.

Where has Beck ever claimed he was a journalist? How amusing that TALK show hosts like Beck are denigrated for "pretending" to be journalists whom they never claimed they were while "journalists" practice something that better constitutes "gossip" columns than honest journalism.

If not for people like Beck and Limbaugh we wouldn't even learn about these radicals because the mainstream media has basically become part of the Obama Administration.

:rofl

That's amazing. A politician does something clearly against anyone's idea of ethics and he is exposed and resigns.

Republicans never do anything slimy. And they always resign.
Gov. Sanford is a prime example of why this story means Obama and the everyone on the left are ALL corrupt and evil.

A few posts and forget about it. Like I did with Abramoff, Stevens, and COUNTLESS others. But they are good christians. So whatever.

Just proof Democrats want to destroy the US.

I've already gone through the list on another thread with Scorpion let me dig it up. First why don't you tell me which of the people on your list are unaccountable and who they are I'll point out to you the cabinet level positions confirmed by the senate

All of the people on that list who were appointed by Obama as "Czars" are clearly unaccountable to the American people as there is no Senate oversight on their appointments.

I look forward to seeing who on that list was an actual Cabinet member that was confirmed by the Senate.

What this is about is some making a huge deal about his ideas as a younger man. I think most of those making this huge deal forget how much dumber we all where when we were young. I think this sends a bad message that a few loud people can force some one from office, and that only those with perfect lifelong backgrounds need apply for any job in government, which eliminates pretty much every one.
There are many young members on this site, what's your point?

Well I need to know which list you're referring to does it have 32 names on it?

As usual, posters bring their ideology when it is not needed.

The fact there exist thirty-something czars tells the objective observer these people have absolutely no power.

Give your heads a good shake and wake me up one there is one czar controlling the land of the free and home of the brave.

Until then, all this nuttery talk about this czar and that czar is just that - crazy opinions from ideological knuckleheads.

I am asking you; which ones on that list were actually confirmed by the Senate?

Did you read the list on beck's site even he doesn't claim that all are not confirmed. Just to point this out to you:

David Haynes
Jeffrey Zeints
Dennis Blair - Director of National Intelligence (that should stick out like a sore thumb)

Cass Sustein is set to be confirmed
John Holdren
Earl Devaney
Herb Allison
Aneesh Chopra

Go back to page 6 I spelled it out pretty clearly

"You just knew there was going to be problems with these little advisers and czars all over the place with no vetting and no oversight. President thin resume does not need this type of embarassment right now. This guy will be scrutinized to death and all kinds of youtube crap will come out. My prediction is an eventual resignation or firing. "

The FACT that you exhibit a complete lack of comprehension of what these people do and control smacks of irony when you make claims that others engage in “nuttery” talk and ideological knuckleheads.

By all means, give your head a good shake and try to wake up from the vast pool of denial you apparently are wallowing in. :2wave:
