9.7% "Jobless rate". Highest in 26 Years.

What does this have to do with BO?
Like it or not, the US economy belongs to Prez Doofus.

If it improves significantly he will get the credit. If it continues to deteriorate (probable), he gets the blame. ;)

Which is unfortunate, considering how little power the President has over the economy.

And what's so probable about continued deterioration?

GWB is already out of office. Its 2009 :doh

I dislike Obama's economic policies but I wouldn't blame this on him.

Except that the numbers in the OP suggest that the deterioration is slowing now, and will hopefully start heading the other direction soon.

Poor folks who have no money cannot afford to shower with soap, therefore the BO.

The "Stink" surpasses any Soap. We are talking about B.O....

I just read an article saying the job market may not turn around until 2014. Very depressing .... sigh ....

For those still in the Liberal Party still capable of thought, the Numbers shrink, every day. Thank you Redress, for "being there" in the fore-front.

Keep up the good work.;)

That's bull. The average recession lasts 10 months. It's been like 18 months already. It's only a matter of time before things turn around.

The descent is slowing. It has not stopped and ceratinly not reversed.

Prez Doofus said if they passed his program without taking time to even read it, unemployment could be held to 8%. If they didn't pass it quickly, unemployment could hit 9%. Well, they passed it and the US is now at 9.7%.

Seems his progams are not doing what he said they would. Was he lying or just stupid. ;)

Yeah,,, Tell that to the Un-Employed. You'll notice I didn't mention a "Party" in Charge.

They know already.:sarcasticclap

I would not be quick to accuse others of not being capable of thought. Unemployment is a lagging indicator, and the losses seem to be slowing(which has to happen before employment starts improving), which is an overall positive. Whether it lasts still remains to be seen, but these numbers are hopeful.

I find that hard to believe. It's not impossible, but a 5 year recession would be incredibly unlikely.

I don't think they meant a 5-yr recession, but rather another jobless recovery. A few of the last recessions were featured jobless recoveries.

I didn't make it up, it was an AP story. I hope they're wrong.

Job market unlikely to recover until 2014 - Stocks & economy- msnbc.com

From reading that, it is a guess as to when unemployment drops to 5 %. That is more likely to be accurate, though I am not sure even that is right. I would guess that unemployment will drop to around 7 % next year, and then slowly head towards 5 %.

The numbers from your link that amazed me:

10.1 percent: The unemployment rate for men over age 20.

7.6 percent: The unemployment rate for women over age 20.

I found that highly unexpected.

Yes, it's all Obama's fault. I clearly remember the economy being in perfect shape when Obama became PotUS. :doh

Yes. He wont actually become responsible for his office until after he leaves.

Yea, the recession's been much harder on men than women, apparently. It is unusual.

Also agree on the article being about returning to around 5% level. The title does make it sound worse than it is. Then again, it's just a projection, too. Hopefully it's overly pessimistic.
