Re: Republican Congressman Calls on Jones to Resign

If someone's current opinions and actions make him the perfect person for a job (Jones dropped his communist stands years ago and has since reformed himself to be a staunch supporter of green business), then past actions should not matter.

    Sure.

    If you're a Democrat.

It's perfectly fine for Robert Byrd to have been in the KKK in his youth.

But any Republican? There would never, ever be an end to it.

I say let Obama hire all the wackos he wants. That said it should be made public on every station and every newspaper how crazy these wack jobs are that Obama chooses to hire. Basically just let Obama hang himself, because people that crazy are bound to **** up really bad and it will look bad on Obama for hiring them in the first place.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

Exactly. I thought this was a free country. Oh well, not in the eyes of some I guess.
It's time for a revolution in our country. Not a revolution forged with guns and bombs but a revolution forged of compassion and altruism. A revolution that extends a hand to those who don't have and who cannot. A revolution that makes Health Care available to all those in the US.

Being a communist is in fact not a crime in the United States.

Well, let's think for a moment. This is not an elected position in the government. If Van Jones were running in an election for Director of Green Jobs with his past views and statements, do you think he would win? I doubt it. No way he wins a general election (or even gets more than 5% of the vote) with those radical views. But, because he was a presidential appointment, he was subjected to little oversight and little public knowledge is known about him. Yet, he is still a public servant who took an oath to defend the Constitution and still possesses some influence over the government. I'm not saying all appointments should now be voted for, but it would behoove a president to appoint people who are not radical pinko commies to positions as public servants. I feel very uncomfortable with a commie in that position because communism is directly opposed to republican democracy (as opposed to what Marx foolishly thought). Having a radical black-nationalist communist in this position is the same as Bush appointing a neo-Nazi to said position. It's not right, it's not fair to the majority of the American people who oppose this man's core belief system, and it should be fixed.

He renounced those views before being appointed, so give me a break. The party that is destroying people's lives is the Republican party right now and it's disgusting. God forbid people see facts and actually base opinion on those facts. The uproar and crazed lunacy from the conservatives is beyond anything I have ever seen. It's time to stop.
