I just don't see how you can look at this poster and not conclude that it's partisan.
It's not partisan, it's pro-government. Which is dangerous in compulsory public schools that are...well...funded by the government.

    President's National Address to Students

President Obama?s Address to Students Across America September 8, 2009

I'm not sure how I feel about this. On one hand, I'm glad the president is encouraging our youth. On the other hand, this man is divisive and sneaky. My kid's school is already strongly pro-democrat. If he keeps politics out of it, I'll be happy. If he doesn't, he'll have SUC to deal with.

Not in my kid's school. For the first time in history, the students were required to watch the inauguration.

I've never heard of such a thing
    .

Well, obviously it doesn't happen then...

Furthermore, don't you see a difference between a picture of the president being posted regardless of party and a campaign ad being posted for a favored official?
Of course I see a difference, but I don't see how that's relevant to this discussion.

If that was the only goal, they could do that without being so overtly political. Look at the ****ing thing - how is that not a campaign poster?
    I don't know. Maybe because it's not?

It's all in blue to symbolize the democrats
    ,

It also has the American flag. Is that a conspiracy too?

It's got a stylized Obama face reminiscent of the campaign posters,
Or maybe it's just to make it look cool.

it's even got the name of the goddamn political advocacy group that paid for it on the bottom.
Yes, well you can thank John McCain for that.

He's using willing school boards to take his campaigning right into public schools.
    Kids can't vote.

I don't even like Obama. I think he's a lying sack of **** Marxist, but all I see here is you allowing partisanship to manipulate your perspective of the poster.

I don't see it as partisan in that I would not see the difference if it was a republican president.

To all of you who are saying this is non-partisan: Imagine this poster, minus the website and the McCain 08 tag, and saying "There is no higher calling than serving your country" instead of the peace/wisdom line.

Now imagine that a conservative political advocacy group prints up thousands of these posters and wants to put them all over public schools.

How many of you would support that?

I'm glad you posted that. When I first heard about this, my knee-jerk reaction was WTF?! But then I thought if Bush had done this would I be as annoyed? That's why I decided to wait and see rather than suddenly have the boy have a dentist appt.

Seeing your example made me feel the same way. I would not like any political scum bag (and they all are) addressing my kid.

Does the Obama poster say Obama 2012??? Does it say Organizing for America | BarackObama.com Those two posters are night and day. What the hell is the matter with you?

If McCain was president, I cannot see myself having a problem with it, especially since I strongly agree with the sentiment, and cannot think of many better to express it.

Gee, thanks for that helpful clarification. My point is that I've never heard of such a practice, so I was wondering if this was some practice that occurred in only your area or back when you went to school.

A cursory google search indicates that this is by no means common, if it even happens anymore. In fact, the folks over at DemocraticUnderground discussed this exact topic:

The President's Picture in Every Classroom - Democratic Underground

They don't seem to keen on it, nor does it seem like it's common at all.

Of course I see a difference, but I don't see how that's relevant to this discussion.

Yes, well you can thank John McCain for that.
Again, you're free to see what you like. That looks blatantly partisan to me, as it would were it McCain's face up there and the ad was tinted in red.

    Kids can't vote.
Brilliant point, that obviously proves that there is nothing to gain from pushing a viewpoint on them.

I think such a thing is ridiculous regardless of who the candidate is.
