Y'know, I don't recall anyone in the mainstream media ever advocating that "Obama is the savior of the free world." I don't even think that was ever implied. Such drivel certainly never came from the Obama campaign.

Perhaps your inference meter is glitchy.

Perhaps...not so glitchy though as to be sucked in by all the hype and think that the government was going to fix all my problems.

On the bright side, it's hard for me to be disappointed in a President that I never had any expectations for.

Which hype, exactly, stated (or even implied) that "The government is going to fix all your problems?" Do you have links?

Before I waste my time digging up links, answer me this. Do you think Obama was elected due to rugged, good looks? Maybe it was his vast political experience? Wait, maybe it was because he was so well spoken without his telemprompter.

...or, JUST MAYBE, people bought in to his rhetoric and broken promises packaged as "Change."

To my knowledge, no media source would be as suicidal as to specifically state that the government could "fix" everything, but that doesn't stop people from hearing what they want to hear.

(p.s. I know...It didn't help any that the previous administration had botched things up so effectively either.)

Well, there ya go. You've made it quite clear what you want to hear.

Isn't it fascinating watching the irony of Liberal talking points about Bush smack them back?

Here's another interesting fact, Obama's represents the third largest drop of approval from any President including Bush, since I believe before WWII.

What does this all mean? Americans are temporarily returning to reality and recovering their sanity perhaps?

You don't have to search far to find the hype... how about this nugget from Time's Man of the Year article!

He hit the American scene like a thunderclap, upended our politics, shattered decades of conventional wisdom and overcame centuries of the social pecking order.
Obama 'upended our politics?' How? By defeating yet another moderate, relatively unpopular, aging, and (yes) crippled GOP war hero who made without a doubt the most disturbing VP selection since Dan Quayle?'

He shattered 'decades of conventional wisdom?' Which conventional wisdom was that? The inside the Beltway conventional wisdom that the Clinton Machine was unbeatable?

He overcame centuries of the social pecking order? How? By becoming the first black president? This isn't 1964 America, folks. Get over it. Few people care that he's black.
