    When does dissent become 'rebellion'.

IMHO this signals the end of Democracy in Venezuela.

Dictator Chavez is no different to those right wing Dictator's he so used to rail against.

I want to know more about the new education law they are protesting before I comment any further.

We're referring to an administration that took no action against large numbers of the 2002 coup perpetrators when they re-organized in national strikes and protests shortly after Chavez's brief removal. As Bart Jones put it, "[m]ilitary rebels who overthrew a democratically elected president were on the streets free, wearing their uniforms and openly calling for rebellion against him." There was also little action taken against the media empire that openly agitated in favor of the anti-democratic coup, with the eventual governmental refusal to renew RCTV's license due to their 200+ terms of service violations coming five years later and being met with the same screeches of dictatorship and "suppression" of the press. With that in mind, it would seem peculiar indeed for this administration to have such a radical about-face, and it seems likely that those depicted as mere "protesters" by the Western media are engaging in more substantial and likely illegal destabilization efforts.

With all that considered, a cursory look at the education bill you could find that it is forcing state education.

I'm not entirely sure about it.

"Forcing state education"? Does the main authoritarian institution itself, compulsory schooling, not already exist throughout Venezuela?

If you can find any evidence, then I'd be glad to hear about it

Evidence of what? I haven't made any strong claims; I've made generally accepted statements about what occurred.

In your dreams maybe, but nowhere close to reality.

Re: Venezuela accuses protesters of attempting 'rebellion'

well, it turns out that a lot of venezuelans really like tea

kinda surprising, actually, you'd think they'd enjoy java

but, either way, you know how angry tea drinking drives over-strong central govts

so la casa blanca put up a web site, flag@diktator.kom, encouraging la gente to rat out their neighbors if they said or did anything pescado

    ie, fishy

then, senor chavez declared boldly that those who disagreed with him were responsible for the mess caracas currently finds itself in

so they should all just callate la boca, shut up

so la gente stormed town halls all across the country, from san cristobal to tucupita

and all the parti patrones were shouted down

    no mas opcion publica!

    down with gobierno!

    it got muy caliente, si

no one had ever seen anything like it

    LOL!
