Race Enters Atlanta Mayoral Vote

Oh, well that is a bit different.

Atlanta has a lot of sub groups that occupy sections of the metro area.

We have Hispanic, Asian, Black, White and other groups that each have their own neighborhoods.
Some places you can't really go to and expect to get decent service unless your a member of that group of people.

Are you serious? Its like self segregation :/
I couldn't imagine that at all.
Pretty mixed boroughs here.
I live in a area which is pretty much 90%+ white. Rest mixed. No trouble at all and i am happy to say my services are still good lol

BINGO! Atlanta is one of the most segregated cities in the country. Various racial and ethnic groups, and even homosexuals, tend to live around those of the same group. And while there is no violence going on or anything, you pretty much know where you are not wanted.

You usually know which side of town your in by the business signage.

The Koreans put their signs in Korean and Hispanics obviously use Spanish.
North Atlanta, in town condos and large house/historic neighborhoods are generally where the white people live.

Black people live in the rest of the city and some places do overlap.
Particularly though, MLK drive and south Atlanta around the airport are were they are concentrated.

These are generalities of course and there are some exceptions but for the most part everyone self segregates.

Even in my rural town this happens.

Obviously, the segregation is not 100%. There is certainly overlap. But it's pretty damn obvious when you are driving around who the overwhelming majority in an area is. They don't call Gwinnett County "Gwin-exico" for nothing! North Atlanta is as lilly white as Sweden. South Atlanta is as black as the Congo. Mid-town is as gay as Liberace. And Buford Highway could be any small city in Asia.

The name of the group is "Black Leadership Forum." Replace black with white, and tell me you'd pay any attention to the KKK passing out memos supporting white candidates. I wouldn't look terribly far into this.

**** that ****, racism is racism and now its mostly white people on the recieving end.

I said white people can vote how they like and to say otherwise is wrong.

What the hell are you talking about?

The first thing that came to mind for me was Buford Hwy and the Korean shops.
I bought my scooter from a guy who had shop there near Dresden Rd.

Did you grow up around Atlanta?

I grew up in Michigan. I've been in Atlanta for about 10 years. Other than the totally insane traffic and urban spawl I rather like it. Winters are nice, there's lots to do, the restaurants are excellent and I get to live around a bunch of white people just like me!

:rofl

It is pretty nice, we make weekend ventures to the city every now and then.
I want to check out the aquarium and my kids want to go to the zoo soon.
I grew up in Cobb, the Smyrna/Austell area.

The aquarium is killer. Well worth the ride in. The zoo is what it is, but your kids will love it.

If your up for a little travel Cartersville has the Tellus Museum.
The Etowah Indian mounds are pretty sweet as well, particularly the river walk behind them.

I thought it was going to be a rinky dink little nothing but I was quite impressed with it.

I was in Catersville Sunday! Went skydiving.

I was in Cartersville Saturday, small world.
I used to live about 10 minutes from the Bartow airport, in Taylorsville.

There is another skydiving place south of Cartersville in Polk, near Rockmart.

It was a bit of a drive, but it was fun. Scary as hell, but fun.
