Long, yes... successful, that's in the eye of the beholder. I doubt that the framers of the US constitution would consider a career politician a success! Both major political parties these days are full of these so-called "successes"!

Now, back to the subject at hand: My knee-jerk reaction is to say "AMF, Ted Kennedy", but I realize that none of us are perfect and I believe that God will sort all this out.

p.s. While not perfect, most of us, however, have NOT covered up our contribution to the death of a young woman in order to save our political careers!
    Obama lied... Ambassador Stevens died!

Mary Jo Kopechne was unavailable for comment on the senator's death.

What I never quite understood is why liberals, who detest great wealth, blood lines & tradition (for the most part) swoon over the Kennedy's for this "American royaly" thing. The whole "Camelot" thing always made my stomach churn.

I can appreciate the Kennedy's for their service and sacrifice. I never liked TK (may he RIP), but the first time I saw him live, I was struck by the history surrounding this man. Royalty and Camelot ... blech.

    Rest in peace, Senator.

Aps, I thought of you when I heard the news. I remember that you were saddened when you found out how sick he was, and despite my feelings on the man, I knew you'd feel badly today.

I think because he's a Kennedy it will be heavy coverage, which is fine, I just would rather that this time we return to a more dignified coverage, I'm getting sick of the morbid nature of celebrity/politician news coverage and when the facts run out, the speculation and third party opinions start to clutter the whole thing, then there are the loons.....ugh, they are the worst of it all

I tend to agree, and I think the news will go on an extended feeding frenzy.
Meh. The media went nutz when Reagan died. It's to be expected. With the Obama's on Martha's Vineyard this week, I image the MSM descending on the cape with a frenzy.

Sigh. We really should start a pool on how quickly someone from the other side will come into a RIP type thread and **** it up with their hyper partisan idiocy when everyones being respectful in it. Like it'd be so damn hard to make a "Why the man deserves no respect in death" thread or something...but of course not, that'd take them being actually halfway respectful to their fellow posters and god knows people don't give a **** about that. They have to have all the attention on them, they must derail it into a big argument.

R.I.P. My heart goes out to the family. The man was a legend within American politics, good or bad. I disagreed with him on just about everything and have a number of issues with him, but ultimately he served his country as best as he felt he could and that's at le ast respectable.

There never was a Camelot except in the MSM. It was all lies, and smoke and mirrors.

When a President, and one of the most prolific of modern times, passes away its one of the few times I can actually legitimately understand the obssesive media coverage. I don't like it, but I can far more understand it.

Stop your crying, he deserves everything he's getting.
