Teen Fears Honor Killing by Muslim Father

By the way laila, tell me if this is true. Someone told me that in some Muslim traditions, when a member of the family dies, the missing person's portion of food is still prepared but given to a needy person. Have you heard of such a thing ?

No i haven't.
Must be a different Muslim culture.

In mine when someone dies money goats and money is given away and goats milk is drank =P

I see. I had found the story of the food quite beautiful and wanted to know more. I'll find out one day. The curious atheist that I am ;).

The goat version sounds good too :)

What symbol is that then?
Sacrifice?

There are different interpretations, but some believe it was a symbolic test that pointed toward the sacrifice of God's Son, Christ; that Abram/Abraham proved his lineage worthy of being the lineage of the Redeemer by his faith exhibited in that test.

Thank you. very interesting interpretation.

It is interesting to note also that in the Sufi interpretation of the sacrifice of Isaac it is said that the child symbolises the soul. For them the sacrifice of Isaac therefore become the sacrifice of the self, in otherwords, the ego.

Really? I've heard of Sufi, never heard of them being considered non-muslim before.

There's the Druzes, (sp?), as I understand it nobody really knows much about them.
