So the GOP backed a poor candidate for U.S. President, who may have been suffering from PTSD?.....& you don't see that as unpatriotic on the part of the GOP?

The voters choose who the voters choose. I'm not a Republican so I didn't have any say about who they would pick. It hardly has anything to do with this thread though. The fact remains that Ridge was not, by his own words, pressured to do anything.

But based on your obvious mistrust/dislike of the GOP, wouldn't you agree that we American voters should discount anything they say about HC reform, economic policies or anything else since they obviously care nothing about our country & are willing to back a bad Presidential candidate who you think may even be mentally ill?

What do you call this then????

Ridge accuses Bush White House of political use of terror alert system - National Politics Blog - Political Intelligence - Boston.com

In his new book, the first Homeland Security chief, Tom Ridge, accuses top aides to President George W. Bush of pressing him to raise the terror alert level to influence the 2004 presidential election.

No. That's an absolutely insane conclusion to jump to. McCain was a well known name and people liked him. I didn't think he was the right person for the job. I don't distrust Republicans anymore than I distrust Democrats. I don't believe either party is good for the country. But once again, that isn't the point of this thread. If you'd like my opinion about that start a thread about it or pm me. This thread is about Ridge.

According to his publisher. Not according to Ridge.

Spare me. One of things that pisses me off about political forums is people quoting famous leaders that have nothing to do with the discussion as if it would make their point any more valid.

What? The fact that I didn't vote for McCain doesn't mean I don't agree with a many general Republican policies.

You just admitted that they (GOP) backed a man who you believe may be mentally ill! (doesn't sound very patriotic/trust inspiring to me on the part of the GOP)
How could you support ANYTHING the GOP says if they are that untrustworthy?

I don't think most people in the GOP share my view of the Senator, so they could have whatever reasons they like for supporting him. Again, this thread is about Ridge. I'd be happy to discuss the possibilities of McCain having PTSD if you feel like starting a thread about it.
