Daniel Hannan in trouble for attacking NHS

David Cameron, the Conservative leader, said Mr Hannan was wrong in his criticism of the NHS. Andrew Lansley, the Conservative shadow health secretary, accused the MEP of presenting a “negative and partial” view of the NHS in his contribution to the US debate about health care.

Conservative US Republicans opposed to President Barack Obama’s health care plans have used the NHS as an example of “socialised” medicine.

Mr Hannan was in the US earlier this week and in a Fox News interview, he supported some of the Republican criticisms of the NHS.

He said: “I wouldn’t wish it on anybody. We have a system where the most salient facts of it you get huge waiting lists, you have bad survival rates and you would much rather fall ill in the US.”

Governments traditionally do not to intervene in the domestic politics of other nations. But the Prime Minister and his Cabinet are irritated by the attacks on the NHS and the British Embassy in Washington DC has been instructed to counter “inaccuracies” about the NHS in the US media.

LOL he is a hack. His own party has totally disowned him on this. The amount of BS being spread by the American right about the NHS and UHC systems in Europe is reaching epic comedic proportions. I mean you guys cant get your facts right... like the Steven Hawking story, claiming that he would never be allowed to live in a system like the NHS because it was not "economically" wise to do so.. .. that was an epic own goal.

This moron just wanted his 15 min of fame in the US and Fox News as usual gave him that without any form of fact checking or anything. Then again for a station that has 60% of its healthcare pundits being negative towards the idea of UHC only shows that it is 2 hacks in love there.

And to Kaya and others.. remember I said that it only took one cockup by the Conservatives to turn positive poll numbers into negative... this had the potential of doing that.. but Cameron was wise enough to disown him on the spot. Now he only needs to kick him from the party.

If the poor man was in US and his family couldn't afford to treat him the expensive medicine, he would have died and the world would never have had such a brilliant man.

I'm sorry but that is a blatant lie. HC in the US has never been about income or affordability. If you get cancer or ANYTHING in the US for that matter, we treat you first, ask questions later. I have a neighbor who has a son that was diagnosed with leukemia. He has zero health insurance and now has to pay millions of dollars for treatments, but his son was still treated at one of the best hospitals in the US for cancer treatment. Insurance wasn't even brought up untill his son was fully healed.

His finances are ****ed for a looooooong time now...but his son is still alive and healthy.

If steven hawking was in the us, and his family couldn't afford to treat him...he would have still been treated. Get over it.

so please, don't assume anything about our system like this.

That’s the problem with the Euroloons today they are all unhinged and are all leftwing loons. Hell, even the conservatives Euroloons are really leftwing hacks in Europe.

Moreover, you inculcated cradle to grave Euroloons can have your ration care and your absurdly high taxes. America has the best healthcare delivery system in the world and not even Obama will be able to screw it up.

In addition, the left’s true intention is not about improving healthcare. Their true intention is about socializing America and turning us into a big nanny state like the delusional Euroloons. If Obama and the Dhimmicrats want to live in a nanny state, then let them all go move to Europe and stop trying to screw America up.
