I wonder if orthodox jewish ladies have to remove their sheitl before using the pool?
The driving force behind a woman covering her head is modesty. In Numbers 5 (5.18) and Isaiah 3 (3.16-17) references to uncovering a woman's head are related to instances of shame or humiliation; it was a punishment for adultery.

Apart from these references, it is in the Shulchan Aruch (Orach Chayim 75) where it is laid out that married women should cover their heads.

I agreed with the ban on the Burka, but this? Really? And the fact that "Burkinis" even exist makes me cringe. But I don't see why they should be banned.

Jesus, people need to start learning to mind their own damned business.
    Public pool, public rules.

If she doesn't like it she can swim at her house.

Well if all there wives beat the swimmers and force them before they go out to competitions to wear them in the name of an interpretation of Islam that isn't actually theoretically Islam itself, then yeah, friggin ban them.

Id respect your decision more if your stance was purely Democratic, yet something tells me your stance is based purely in favor of your own religion.

And you cannot prove every person who wears that garment gets beaten.
I know many friends who are single and wear it. What husband is forcing them?

Burqa has nothing to do with Islam.
It has no basis on my religion or faith. It is culture and a practice that pre dates Islam and has been incoporated and absorbed into Islamic culture at a later date.
The originals one was designed to keep sand from eyes.

    My stance is very simple.
Do not ban things you do not agree with, it is counter productive and it will give the state too much power.

    What is next?
    My hijab?
    Crosses?
    Turbans?
    Kippas?
    Books? ...
How about stopping people coming into this country because of their view? ...

And when have i ever changed my views in favour of Islam?

I bet even with the swim suit she wouldn't need to tell people her gender, unlike some people on this board
