'Death to Obama' sign holder in Md. detained

It was wrong when they were burning effigies of Bush. It's wrong now. Disagreements with the President do not warrant physical attacks on them.

Hell,,,the Feds should've "detained" every Liberal Nut waving signs about shooting President Bush. But we'd of run out of Porta-Crappers to keep them in.:doh

Are there any documented cases of Liberals waving signds that advocated that The Shrub be called in front of an END OF LIFE PANEL who were not arrested and/or told to put thier stupid signs down ?? ?

You're exactly right. Send a few of them to the gas chamber and we'll start seeing people be a little more respectful to the president and I don't give a damn who he/she is.

burning an effigy may not be nice but it is free speach. Now if there is a sign that refers to the effigy that advocates that the object of the effigy be end of lifed then we are talking crime.

So you have been saying you're afraid that Obama is acting like a dictator and now you're encouraging the actions that a Dictator would do.

I call that VERY ****ing ironic there lol.

Anyone wanna bet this guy is a lefty?

EPIC FAIL - Exactly what I said the (R)epugnant (R)ight would do, squirm there way out of it. It is not just the threat to the President, but to his wife and children, god the (R)epugnant (R)ight are so morally corrupt. Way to fail on this test.

1.) I'm not a Republican, I'm a Conservative or Constitutional moderate. Take your pick.

2.) I watched everyone run on this website and rail about how a righty spray painted that swastika on Congresman Scott's sign. Who's to say that this isn't a lefty who took his political jiu-jitsu too far?

First of all, it's not surprising that an extremist nutball moron would hold a sign like this. Secondly, it's pathetic that people use said nutballs as political currency by associating them with the political ideology that they don't agree with. Sadly, both sides are guilty of this crap. It was annoying when Bush was President and it's annoying now.

No both sides are not doing this crap and to claim so is only an attempt to deflect the reality of the situation.

The leftwing wackos are not in control of the party and never have been.

Yes some on the left may have been critical of Bush and some were harsher than others...

There has been a major change though....The left wing fringe wackos are still very much the fringe. The Republicans on the other hand and shattered too the point where the wacko fringe is now the base and their current leaders are just as wacked out.

The wacko fringe on both sides were barely even newsworthy not long ago. Now it is all that is left of the Republican party in their pundits, their politicians and what is left of the dwindleing party supporters. They are reprsented at the townhalls. Old white pissed off men mostly who are pissed that a black man won the whitehouse. Hatemongers, fearmongers and racists.

Their agruments at the townhalls prove it. With all of the legimate construtive debate people could be having all they have to offer is nitwit death panel spew and other nonsenseacle fearmongering junk.

This wacko needs to be jailed and investigated to the highest degree..let's just see where his past connections lead. I will be interesting.

What's more important to you?

a. Discussing the article and what should happen to this man.
b. Trashing the "(R)epugnant (R)ight."

Think carefully.
George Washington said:
I have already intimated to you the danger of parties in the state, with particular reference to the founding of them on geographical discriminations. Let me now take a more comprehensive view, and warn you in the most solemn manner against the baneful effects of the spirit of party, generally. This spirit, unfortunately, is inseparable from our nature, having its root in the strongest passions of the human mind. It exists under different shapes in all governments, more or less stifled, controlled, or repressed; but, in those of the popular form, it is seen in its greatest rankness, and is truly their worst enemy.

(snip)

Without looking forward to an extremity of this kind, (which nevertheless ought not to be entirely out of sight,) the common and continual mischiefs of the spirit of party are sufficient to make it the interest and duty of a wise people to discourage and restrain it.

I refuse to believe that. I see effigies as representation of a person. Setting it on fire clearly shows your feelings towards that person. It shows to me that you are to some extent calling for the death of a president.

Yep, they sure are a real class act. I imagine the (R)epugnants will squirm out of this.

Here's the image that was linked to earlier, cropping out the foul language:

Yep, they sure are a real class act. I imagine the (D)emocraps will squirm out of this.

See, I can make idiotic ignorant intellectuall dishonest statements of over generalization too! ITS FUN!

Both people are idiots who don't respect our country. Lock them both up IMO. You can not threaten the President. Call him socialist. Paint a hitler mustache or devil horns on him -- but once you directly threaten or advocate violence towards the democratically elected leader of our country, you're not one of us anymore. Buh-bye, asshole.

Agree with you here. Insulting a President is one thing. Calling for his death is indefensible.

That being said -- the way some people try to deflect or derail a discussion by digging up something the other extreme once did -- pretty lame Harshaw. Pretty lame.

Partisan hack douchebaggery of the highest order.

Deal with the issue in OP or don't post.

Oh come off it Haz, he IS dealing with the OP. From the OP:

"Yep, they sure are a real class act. I imagine the (R)epugnants will squirm out of this"

The OP was the one that specifically decided to take a sign by a single idiot and try to slander the entire group of people that have (R) next to their name. If he's going to do that then calling out the hypocrisy of it by showing that for one to apply his standard then he TOO would be a "real class act" because idiots on his side did the same type of thing. That IS addressing the OP.

If the OP didn't write out a partisan hack line then you'd have had a point, but the OP made this a hyper partisan thread and thus attacking his hyper partisan point is spot on.

No both sides are not doing this crap and to claim so is only an attempt to deflect the reality of the situation.

Yes some on the left may have been critical of Bush and some were harsher than others...

No, both sides are not doing this? Are you meaning currently? Because yeah, one sides doing it worse now...guess what, a few years back one side was doing it worse then too. Did that make you and all (D)'s "real class acts" then? (I'm sure you'll come up with some kind of reason why you can justify it being fine to insult all (R)'s now but its "not the same" with the (D)'s)

Calling for a President's death is not "harsh", its beyond harsh.

And before you go whining about it (Which is obviously feigned outrage anyways since amazingly enough I still haven't seen you poke your head in a thread that has as much proof of anything you all have proved of someone being "staged" at a town hall meeting or calling out a Dem for the fact that they generally used "The repubs made us do" it argument)...

This is not a "Dems made us do it argument". This guy is an idiot and the SS did the right thing with him. What I'm saying is that the OP's argument is idiotic and ignorant to try and slander all (R)'s over the acts of one lone idiot unless he too wants to consider himself and all (D)'s as "real class acts" as well because your side does it as well. Want to hold one side to a standard, then hold your own to it as well.

What test?

No one here is supporting this kookster. No one here is suggesting he had a legit reason for his kookiness. No one here is saying the guy has a right to kook speech.

The guy's a kook. Nothing but a kook. Hopefully not a dangerous John Hinckley sort of kook, but still just a kook.

Kook fail to make more of it than that.

Fair enough.

I see your point. -- Douchebaggery may have been unfair.

Harshaw's first point was direct and valid.

Squirm out of what? A nutball holding a vicious sign who was rightly arrested?

But I stand by my position that bringing far-lefter pic into the discussion was a typical 'they did it too' response.

Me, I'm going to hold you personally responsible for this guy. Only fair, right?

Yes, we know and get that there are extremes on both sides. But how relevant is this to the entire OP? Not just the partisan comments by the poster, but the story linked to in the OP regarding a threat on a sitting president.

You obviously see it as more relevant than I do.

Hyper-partisan hacks never see anything wrong with their side. Wackos on both sides of the political spectrum are actually quite similar in behavior. They protest with an idiotic sign like this guy did and people on the other side use it as political currency to further their own hyper-partisan talking points. Obviously, you are no different.

Some nut holding up a silly sign is not what the SS should be concerned about.

Some nut holding up a silly sign is not what the SS should be concerned about.
They don't really have a choice.

  • John Wilkes Booth
  • Charles Giteau
  • Leon Czolgosz
  • Lee Harvey Oswald
  • John Hinkley, Jr.
"Some nut" is the one most likely to actually get a gun and make good on the silly sign.

Some nut holding up a silly sign is not what the SS should be concerned about.

Huh? Saying that Obama, his wife, and his two children should die isn't a big deal?

If my name was on that sign, I would be horrified that someone was wishing my and my family's death.

Ummmm.... the issue in the OP, the way I saw it was posting an example of an extremist and then generalizing that he is in some way 'mainstream' of all republicans.

I think Harshaw dealt with the issue of the OP very well.

You should be stating that the OP, and thus this entire thread was partisan hack douchebaggery of the highest order instead of blasting Harshaw.

Shame on yourself. Stand against partisan hack douchebaggery of both sides or don't bother mentioning it.

For a sign? I don't think so. I don't think that unless there is credibility to the threat that he can't be arrested. There should be no law against being an idiot.
