    Did you take the MSF?

I never even heard of one of those bikes.
Honestly don't know the SV. I'm a bit of a newbie into the whole culture.

Yep, I took the course. I'd highly recommend it to anyone starting off honestly.

And not surprised you haven't heard of it. Its a little Chinese import, primarily sold over internet websites. Only reason I went with the site I did was because a few forums I was looking at to research these bikes actually had a decent amount of people recommending it. Surprisingly enough though the company is Harley Davidson and Piaggio's Chinese distribution partner.

Its not a bad little bike for the money, and was nice to start on and great for gas mileage (I get a little under 65 mpg and that's running it at full bore most times I'm riding. If it was just city driving I'd probably be closer to 80-85), and doesn't FEEL cheaply made. I've had no manufacturing issues with it thus far.

The sv is 650 v-twin sport bike that doesn't kill you in the ins dept cause its a naked.....

The msf is a life saver literally, I am glad you took it.... when you are ready to move up a little, i reccomend the sv, (gladius now), a ducati monster, or the triumph street triple, kawasaki er6n, etc..... all good bikes that are easy to ride and have a very sporty spunk to em.... more upright than a true sport bike but most can hit the twisties as good or better than any super sport...

(I roll R1's on the twisties with my little v-twin... )

Its good stuff, you wear full gear? gear is most important.....

Let me ask you a few questions.

    how old was the nephew?

    What kind of kawasaki?

How long has he been riding?

    What gear was he wearing?

Why did he pull out to pass if the lane was not clear?

I feel bad for the family......

I don't know the answers, but understand that the helmet split in two. He obviously was at fault, but thats not always the case. The week before I came upon a frantic woman standing beside her car which happened to be sitting on top of a motorcycle which was all the way under the middle of her suv.She apparently ran over it from behind probably while texting. She managed to do this in heavy rush hour stop and go traffic. The cycle stopped for the red light.Don't know the fate of that rider, but it didn't look good.

Never ride without my helmet, boots, and gloves. Will always have some kind of full sleeves on. If its just around down (25-35 mph) and a short ride sometimes I'll go a light jacket. Most of the time, and always when I'm going onto any major road, I have a jacket with armor.

I need to get a good set of pants that I can wear over my work pants. I'm sure my knee would be feeling better if I had had those a few days ago.

the only time I don't look like the gay power ranger, is when I am at long beach island and the speed limit is 25mph, and even thats a extreme risk...

otherwise its ATGATT......... if i wear jeans to go to the store its kevlar or steel reinforced jeans, otherwise its full pants, boots, gloves, jacket, helmet, etc....

Yeah. I'm hoping before next season to save up for a light mesh jacket (with armor), over pants, and a good set of boots, and a new helmet.

Gotta take the time to save up the money is the issue.

Re: Motorcyclist dies in apparent road-rage crash

I have yet to experience the road-rage/asshole motorcyclist but I have experienced the douches in their cheap ricer in which the stereo system is worth more than the actual car. Its quite amusing since when you think which vehicle will do better in an accident? The ricer or my XLT Ranger?
Jackboots always come in matched pairs, a left boot and a right boot.

Someone cuts you off or does something stupid? Breath out, relax, let them get a bit away from you if they're going over the speed limit, and go on. Riding on the bike is fun and relaxing, no reason to let it ramp your stress and anger up.

After getting into an accident recently and wrecking my bike / knee, all because I was trying to avoid a car that slammed on their breaks when not really needed (granted, the gravel from construction was the larger problem), this just pisses me off. I got up, blamed myself as I should've, and moved along instead of having some intense hatred for a guy that did something while driving that just about everyone that's been behind the wheel has been guilty of once before
Sorry about your accident. That sucks. What happened to your knee? Will it be okay?
