Specter: Protests not 'representative of America'

Once again, my friend, drop the "talking points," this is not proposed socialized medicine. I do understand you are an insurance man and only want to protect your industry, but please do so without the misleading rhetoric.

Oh, and you do appear to be 10% crazier, more for the money I suppose.

The definition of irony if not blatant hypocrisy.

...which is why a lot of SANE Democrats are not supporting it either.

Which is why it will go down in flames.... and the Libs are going to get burnt over it.

The thing that I find so amazing in this debate is how Democrats keep trying to make this out to be a Republican conspiracy to prevent passage; REALITY CHECK here folks: the Democrats do not need ONE SINGLE Republican vote to pass this crapola.....HELLOOOOoo.

If it is so damned good for all of us, just pass the freaking bill along party lines.

:rofl

ABSO-FREAKING-LUTELY! You and your fellow Liberals get ALL the credit. Frankly, there won’t be a single Republican vote for this thing except for the two or three Liberals posing as Republicans in the Senate.

I will be the first in line to say I was wrong; they didn't raise everyone's taxes and we don't have to wait MONTHS if not YEARS for critical operations, AND, the cost was not in excess of $1 trillion dollars adding to the National Debt and funny money we call the dollar.

:2wave:

I'll hold you to it!:2wave:

I am not AS sure as you are; but I hope you are right.

You can see them self destruct daily... Mobsters, Swastikas, Un-American, Obama telling us to shut up.

The list goes on and people are starting to see what a bunch of power mad idiots there are trying to run our government.

This is the end of liberalism for the next 20 years.

Once the final three bills are reconciled into one final, it will pass. Count on it!;)

I'll take that bet! I say after it passes, your party dies in what looks like it's final throes anyway.

Well, way to go off the rails there. Ask yourself this, read what you said and think whether you actually believe this, or is partisan rhetoric getting to you?
It's not about partisanship, for example, I thought some things healthcare related from the Clinton administration were very good, such as the HIPPA laws and COBRA coverage, this current administration however has an obvious agenda and this bill stinks.
I would expect you, by now, to be a little bit more informed than the average dimwit on the street. Politicians say a lot of things on campaign trails, and they hold a lot of views and ideas that are not always implemented.
Look at how angry those politicians are this time though, and look at how quick they are to demonize detractors, this speaks volumes.
Fact is, and saying otherwise is just a sad red herring, we are not getting UHC.
I completely disagree, this is exactly what is being proposed, but instead of a direct implementation, they are trying to sneak it in by small incrimentalist steps, I truly wish it was just partisanship guiding my call here, but that isn't the case.
Throwing that out there serves absolutely no purpose other than to end discussion.
I'm willing to discuss things, unfortunately I don't think there is a way to salvage the current bill, if it were scrapped for something that more resembled health reform and less resembled government micro-management and interference I'd be more hopeful about it.

Oooh lets see the link.....

washingtonpost.com

On June 19, Rep. Mike Ross of Arkansas made clear that he and a group of other conservative Democrats known as the Blue Dogs were increasingly unhappy with the direction that health-care legislation was taking in the House.

"The committees' draft falls short," the former pharmacy owner said in a statement that day, citing, among other things, provisions that major health-care companies also strongly oppose.

Five days later, Ross was the guest of honor at a special "health-care industry reception," one of at least seven fundraisers for the Arkansas lawmaker held by health-care companies or their lobbyists this year, according to publicly available invitations.

You guys talk about closet liberals! These guys are behaving like GOP members!

What bet?... Just watch the next election.

As many lies as the Libs have been caught in with this bill, they could write the perfect health reform bill and no one would trust what they say.. once a liar, always a liar.

I would listen to something if they said they said "we get it, let's slow down, get some input, and really put something golden out there" but what I am seeing is a rush to push a backloaded bill out and an unwillingness from politicians to do the right thing.

Most of the people in this country are seeing that too

They probably just want to keep their jobs.. have you noticed people are PO'ed, or have you missed that?

If you believe that is the majority, then you are in denial. Of course many will have concerns, but as I heard this past week, some elderly folks were telling the government to stay away from their MEDICARE!!!!:2rofll:

And why do you think that is?

WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama unveiled a multi-trillion-dollar spending plan Thursday that would boost taxes on the wealthy, curtail Medicare, lay the groundwork for universal health care and leave a string of deficits dwarfing any in the nation's history.

Medicare Advantage plans, through which nearly 11 million seniors get their Medicare drug and medical benefits, have been a frequent political target for Democrats, who see them as an unnecessary bonanza for insurers. President Obama promised on the campaign trail that he'd cut payments to insurers as part of his health-overhaul plans.

The guy is an idiot... who does he think is the largest, most organized voting block in this country?

53% (many misinformed) does not equal 'Most'.

We live in a Republic with democratic elections. What Americas 'want' is represented by the current make-up of the House and the Senate. I want more of a balance and will cast future votes accordingly.

We don't live in a direct democracy--I'm not sure everyone attending these Town Halls understand this.
If that's so why do liberals complain about the Electoral College?

hmm "these guys" "they"?

I think you fell short.

I fell short in saying the blue dog Democrats are acting like GOP'ers by taking money from those that oppose the reform that is needed? I think not my friend. These Dems are bought and paid for, by our friends from the insurance providers of America.;)
