Keep in mind that these are the most popular names for babies being born NOW...not necessarily the most popular names for babies being born in whatever year you were born (i.e. the people you're most likely to meet).

Names go in and out of style all the time. A lot of the most popular names today were virtually unheard of just a decade ago...and many names of my generation (early-mid 1980s) have fallen out of favor today. Like the #4 female name today is Madison. I don't think I've ever met someone named Madison in my entire life (due to the generational gap), and I would probably think it was a bizarre name if I met someone my age named Madison.

I don't know why, but the name Chole has got me thinking about Molly Ringworm, my least favorite actress ever. She looks like a Chloe.

Also, the really trendy names often don't show up as high as they should because of the spelling bastardizations that are so popular. The most popular boys' name right now is actually Aidan, but once you split that into Aiden Ayden Aydan etc etc etc it doesn't rank as high

I know I'm going to piss someone off with this, but I always thought these unique spellings were ridiculous. I always look at a person with a name spelled wrong and figure their parents couldn't spell or something.
